Does this sound (no pics) like a genuine Mint error?

A friend of mine brought this coin over to me to check out. The coin belonged to his dad who recently passed away.

The coin in question is a 1915 Lincoln Cent in fine condition. The coin is about half the thickness of a normal cent and the rim is completely missing. The weight is 1.3 grams.

The coin is colored brown and has a authentic look to it.

Thanks,

Wally

Could be a thin planchet error.

    Need photos.

Not much chance of definitive help without pictures. Cheers, RickO
