Here is some of today's Gold. Mostly from the Santa Clara show.

Quick and dirty photos...

Some gold from the Santa Clara show...

But I start off with the piece from the US Mint:

Yer basic gold bullion shouldn't be this fun...

A piece from the State of California: Mintage unknown.

And a few pieces of World Gold:

A proof centennial $20 Canadian piece: KM#71 - 337,688 minted. 0.5288 oz agw. Also, my birth year.

A Spanish 20 pesetas piece: The "62" restrike. Struck in 1962 from original dies. I don't know the mintage. 0.1867 oz agw.

An Saudi Arabian guinea: KM#36 - 1950 - 2,000,000 minted 0.2354 oz agw

A sovereign from 1876: KM#752 - 3,319,000 minted. The color attracted me to this one.

I could do better. The California piece was shot through a plastic flip, as it is sealed and I do not want to open the seal.
The buffalo was shot in the capsule; I did not remove the capsule for this. It's still pretty new and clean (it'd better be).

I see some camera shake...blur in those photographs. If I didn't consider photography such a chore, i'd spend more time doing it right.

One thing about raw world gold. I prefer to store it in 'direct fit' airtites. I prefer this for viewing as opposed to a flip.
But it does mean that I need to keep just about every size of airtite from 20mm to 30mm on hand.
And there are a few that still defy a good fit.

By my count, my world gold collection stands at 33 coins. And by 'world gold' I mean coins that are not US Type. I should do a full presentation soon. It would be cool.

Wow those are nice. When you do your research on that little Calif piece and you find
info on mine, could you let me know? Same format, just 9 years later.

Mmm. Younghead Vickie. I like the Vickies, especially when she's young.

  • Nice, especially the California gold. The reverse is similar to the San Diego Commem which is one of my favorites. Also liked the Canadian reverse a lot.
