This 1920 Buffalo nickel is beautiful in hand

Another buff I haven't shown for a couple of years, and also one of my favorites...

You'd think, going from the coins you post, that fully struck and attractive buffs grow on trees. image

Nice coin & thanks for sharing...Mike

I resubmitted, and results are back: MS65.
This coin has gone MS64, artificial color, MS63, and now MS65.

To quote Russ (I think) "If the grade don't fit, you must resubmit"

What do you think the right answer is?

It's difficult to be critical of a coin like that, Guy.

Stick with the 65 and don't bounce it anymore.

It really is a beautiful coin but is not fully struck. The peripherals are beautiful......the center is a little weak.

It's missing central point braid detail near the knot. It has the "rugosity" to the hide, but at the shoulder, look to the left and you will see missing high point detail to the hair on the hip just above the hoof.

I only do this because you like a nice rundown opinion on your coins.

    "Opinion" being the key word.

I agree with you, Pete. I'm very happy with the MS65, the coin is maxed. It took a couple of years and three tries to get it there.

That is a really nice Buff Guy, and I have admired it before. Interesting history. I agree, it is where it should be now. Cheers, RickO

TTT'ing this. I haven't browsed through my collection in months, and after seeing this piece, wondered if I'd posted images back in the day. It was nice spending an hour or so with my coins. Like seeing old friends.

    Stunning.

Is this not a superb strike for a 1920 Buffalo??

Buffalo nickel series is one, when strike per date & mintmark, is definitely a consideration. VERY tough set to grade.....

I think the coin is attractive and well struck, but I question the colors. Perhaps the other grades were netgrades.
