Mint and Proof Sets.....

I received my my 2009 mint sets the other day. Besides the fact that I didn't even open the boxes, I asked myself why I keep buying them? Every year I say this is the last, but can't seem to stop even though I know full well that I keep throwing good money out the window. I have them going back to 1950 and cringe everytime the Grey Sheet comes out and see how much less they are worth as time goes on.

Anybody else have this problem?

Stopped buying them in 2005 and haven't missed a thing. In fact, just have more funds for other endeavors.

If you have nicely toned ones from the 50s, I would buy them for greysheet image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Don't buy them from the Mint. Wait and buy them at greysheet.

Unless, of course, someone finds a significant variety. Then greysheet would be a bit pricy. image

If you want to give them away, I am here every day image And I can assure you that I wouldn't care about any percieved value, I would just enjoy having them image

I typically get them as gift the new ones, so they don't cost me anything.....

    I enjoy having them.....

Don't buy anything dated later than 1933.

I do buy them, although not sure why. I enjoy looking at them when I receive them, but after that, they do not get much 'eye time'. Cheers, RickO

I used to buy 5 of each proof and mint set, and a couple of each of the commemoratives, but it just became too bulky. I sold off a lot of duplicates, but still buy one of each mint set, plus the regular and silver proof sets. Like RickO, I usually look at them when they arrive, and then put them away.
