1921 Peace Dollar PCGS MS-63 (CAC) - Strong Strike, Full Mint Luster & Attractive Toning -- from

I think that this recent purchase from Mark Feld may be the most well struck 1921 Peace Dollar in my collection. Perhaps it was one of those struck using the 150 ton pressure during the intial phase of minting...

This coin is struck much better than the average 1921 Peace Dollar, but as you have noted still is not fully struck to fully define all of the intended design details (such as the hair over Miss Liberty's ear).

<< <i>BXBOY143: You are observing the areas of the coin that were not fully struck up due to the inability of the minting process using 120 to 150 tons of pressure to define the details of this first year high relief design with mintage of 1 Million coins.

Go to Teletrade and do an archive search on past sales of 1921 Peace dollars. I was able to bring up over 250 MS64 and higher graded coins. Most of the coins had complete (a circle of) missing ear details right smack dab in the center of the coin. You will need to search long and hard in that list to find what that detail looks like in that area around the ear.

and anything I understand comes from RWB's book,
there is no such thing as a fully struck 21 Peace,
so Stuarts is a rare coin indeed.
