Help with Bowers and Merena auction lot description?

This coin is from Bowers and Merena Galleries from the Russell J. Logan & Gilbert Steinberg collection of Nov 6-9 2002. Lot #5765.

Does anyone have the auction catalog and can type the description up for me? Thanks!

Looks like it's an elongated nickel. You can make out a couple of stars on the blank side.

It's a Columbian Expo souvenir, an elongated Liberty Nickel.

I notice on the flip that it says 1885. If you can actually see that date on the nickel, it's pretty cool.

  • You can see the date on the nickel and it is 1885 faintly. I was wondering if the auction description had any other cool tidbits or info about this elongated besides the date and that it is an elongated piece.

5765 1893 Columbian Exposition elongate on an 1885 V nickel. EF. A rolled-out key date! The elongate die is impressed into the reverse, with the obverse rolled from top to bottom with a nice full date. A most interesting item - and what a way to include this key date in a V nickel date set.

Not plated, it is not listed in the PRL so apparently did not sell.
