Everett (WA) Coin Show this Sunday... worth going?

airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,304 ✭✭✭✭✭
I haven't been to a show since the June Baltimore show, and I'm itching to see some coins. That said, I do most of the commute from Seattle to Everett every day and hate it, so I don't really want to make myself drive it an extra time if the show isn't worth it.

For those who have been in the past, is this a show worth attending? Any word on number of tables/quality of offerings?

    It depends.
2 years (or was it 3?) ago, it was pretty cool. Some nice stuff was found, imho. Not in huge volumes but still pretty nice.
Last year, it was a bust. Blah stuff. Cleaned stuff. Way overpriced stuff.

That said, I will still try to go. It's a pretty cool little local show and one never knows what one will find.
I will likely try to go Saturday though.

As for the commute...aside from the distance, and the area around the U, on I-5, the traffic shouldn't be too bad...unless there is an accident. Just try to avoid lunch time image

The commute is usually fine on the weekend... but doing it 5 days in a row doesn't make it conducive to do it when I don't have to... it's still 30+ miles each way image

Jeremy, I can't remember the last show I was at. It's been further back than June, and I'm hesitant to say it was the January FUN show, but I can't be certain.
I've never been to the Everett show, so I couldn't tell you yeh from neh. But, I am looking forward to heading to the January 2010 FUN show image

    Jeremy,

I went to this show 3 years ago. The usual dealers who make the local show circuit were there, plus a few that I had not seen before. If you have not been to a local show it may be worth going, as I remember there were around 30-40 dealers. You never know what you will find at a local show. I am not going, busy with family events this year. The Boeing show in the Winter and PNNA in the Spring are the only regional shows of any size, unless a national show comes to Seattle, which happened last with the 1990 ANA.

I plan to be at both, which are conveniently 10 minutes away from me image

    You and Russ both....

Ya know, thinking about it now, I don't think you two have ever been seen together...hmmmmmmmm......are there really 2 separate people or just 1 with 2 identities? image
Oops...better throw Rob (holeinone1972) into that mix as well now.

I think traffic out here in the Seattle area is terrible whatever day it is.....I have sat longer on the weekends than during the week.

When I lived there, it was a small, but sometimes interesting, show. The PNNA and the Boeing show are the best of Puget Sound. Sometimes the small shows surprise you with content, but never many tables... 20-40 at most. Cheers, RickO

Jeremy...Seattle to Everett too long of a drive for a coin show...geez, what a wimp! image

What happened to you? You graduate from MIT and get a job at Boeing and suddenly a short drive on the weekend beats you. I losing faith, man. image
