Has anyone played with Halogená bulbs for photo lighting?

I just saw these and they are a neat design as they are regular incandescent bulb with a halogen element inside.

I was just going to say. But any bulb with a naked/visible filament will result in too much glare or white/wiped out surfaces. Too much relection of that filament will show up in your pictures. I have had some success with photographing frosted proof and darker coins with clear bulbs but not with brilliant lustrous coins.
