Toning on Silver Bullion

While flipping thru a thread on the BST I noticed quite a few pieces of silver bullion ie "coins" and medals and even some bars that are nicely toned. It occured to me that a lot of this toning was similar to coins I have seen on this forum where the originalness of the toning was in dispute including many coins that PCGS had "bagged" for AT. I think it would be instructive to study the bullion toning under the assumption that it is NT to get a better idea of what might be NT on coins since who would intentionally tone bullion?

<< <i>I have seen silverware with some nice toning too but I don't think that compares to coins 90% either. Some of the coolest colors I have seen is after a fresh rain on oily roads- am I the only one here that enjoy's looking at this?
I enjoy this too but had to stop. Cars honk at me and folks call me bad names I can't say here.
The last straw was when the insurance company told me they would no longer cover any injuries.
<< <i>Of course they intentionally tone bullion.. two reasons - one, that makes for good practice, two, the neophytes, or lemmings - you pick the term - who have more money than knowledge, will buy anything tarnished at this point. Surface decomposition of silver is all the rage and the coin doctors are laughing all the way to the bank. Cheers, RickO >>
I literally hear Charlie Brown's teachers voice now when I read your posts.......MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

rickO- You keep buying your blast white, dipped, doctored coins while your coin doctors are laughing all the way to your bank with your money for paying 66 money for a coin that came from a 4 holder just a week earlier.. I on the other hand will continue to stick with what I enjoy and I will laugh while the coin doctors waste money getting all the AT coins sent back from pcgs because its very clear that they are not slabbing anything with color unless they are very very sure that its NT or MA. Clearly the market for toned coins has turned severely, you would know if you spent some time basing your information on facts instead of your useless ramble. Years ago toned coins carried HUGE premiums and ANYTHING with color got moon money. Now this is no longer the case, Eye appealing coins will always always sell for more than white coins but since the services have tightened and collectors become more knowledgable they are no longer just buying color. There is something to be said for paying strong money for good coins, its hard to find a white coin that has not been messed with and in actuality it is much easier to find toned coins that have not been messed with. I think you should spend less time bashing peoples coins on the forum and more time doing research.
Cheers
