CRO Newp

Some folks say that I add little value to this forum.
I wanted to contribute to this forum somehow. I just didn't want to do anything difficult or hard.
So, in that vein, I present new pictures of my CRO box.

The unopened box, view from the top.
Note the prominant logo. It is printed in black, on white paper and measures exactly 3 inches by 3 inches. The box top itself measures 9 inches by 6 3/4 inches. CRO boxes are not metric and are thus, by law, are heavily taxed in Canada.
The label iis also rotated clockwise by approximately one degree with respect to the box top, although that does not automatically mean that this is an error box.

Opened box, showing top and bottom halves separately.
The bottom of the box measures slightly smaller than the top of the box. I have complained about this, but they say that is how they are made. In the back of my mind, I wonder if it is a cheap chinese counterfeit.

The unopened box, view from the bottom.
Clearly showing the smaller bottom half of the box. I'm wondering if other folks see the same thing with their CRO boxes?

View of the tears in the bottom of the box.
The bottom of the box contained a plastic bag that had been taped to the bottom to prevent movement during shipping.
Unfortunately, it does not seem possible to remove the tape without tearing the paper on the bottom of the box.
Perhaps soaking the contents in a suitable solvent such as hexane would work better to prevent damage to the box?
Also, I think I can see Elvis.

As you see, this box is marked as 'one of 77', meaning that it is a rare first strike edition. The limited issue of only 77 boxes, with an unknown amount burned, combined with huge collector demand assures that this box will sell well above the reserve at auction. It is important to blur out the rest of the information to deter counterfeitters.

View of the interior of the top of the box, close up on a defect in the attachment of the paper cover.
The Mint where they make these boxes appears to have an occasional quality control problem. This issue clearly prevents a 70 grade.

Slight damage on the outer bottom corner of the box, limiting the grade to no more than MS-68.

Closeup of feature in top of upper half of box.
This box is solid paper, but some of these box tops are plated in Gold, Silver or Bronze. This feature is where the box is suspended from a hook when it goes into the plating baths.

Inside of the top of the box. Shows the two plating suspension holes as well as how the top paper is attached.
Note that this is evidence that a minimum of toxic Arsenic glue is used, as per CFR 21 Section 18.9a.

Almost cat sized, but I could not make my cat fit.

May I be the first to say image

Apologies for the folks that had to download this with their modem connection.
