Home Precious Metals

I will be embarking on my next rendezvous with destiny in approximately 10 months; this is my window

I have pretty much decided to liquidate my bullion holdings to finance my next trip to the middle east and clear up a few bills before I depart. I was wondering when you (The experts) think it would be best to sell my holdings. Let's assume I will be leaving 1 SEP 2010, so all sales need to be final by then.

I have some Platinum (1 oz, PCGS MS-69, 1 oz, PCGS MS-70 both 2006-w) and I have some assorted Gold (4 Piece set 2006-w, PCGS MS-70, 69, 69, 70 smallest to largest) as well as some 2006 Silver (20 oz all PCGS)

Opinions/questions are welcomed,
Ray

maybe now? Prices for gold are at an all time high, who knows in Sep 2010, it might drop considerably or go up.

What part of the middle east? Be careful over there, lots of beheadings, etc. If it was me, I'd go there only if I had a M1 Abrams as an escort imageimageimage

The lull for precious metals usually occurs in May or so.

If you must have the money in-hand by Aug. 1st in order to set your accounts straight before leaving, and if you figure a month or two to put the coins up for sale and to consumate the transaction (making sure to get paid), that moves your "drop dead" for sale date to something like June 1.

If all of the above is true, then I'd say your best window for maximum proceeds on the sale of your coins is probably between now, and mid February. The pre-Christmas timing was pretty good for me the last time that I sold stuff in quantity.

According to Murphy's Law, the best day to sell will be September 2, 2010. image

Your holdings represent real wealth. Wouldn't it be prudent to keep on with what you started and widdling down debt with a regular payment plan that you pay with your regular check ? That's just a thought and not necessarily mine.

just my opinion, I say sell now and rip that debt to shreds then start saving like crazy until next September.......and BE SAFE! Thanks for your service.

Would you prefer any taxes to be calculated in 2009, or 2010?
