Silver purchase goes wrong

Some local kids listed some silver bars online, and found a buyer. The buyer and his son met them at a local perkins restaurant, just off the highway.
Instead of buying silver, they ended up getting robbed of $3300 in cash.
I've met people to complete online deals in person, maybe not such a great idea.

Ignorance cost them this time...
"All three face charges of robbery, conspiracy, possessing instruments of a crime, theft and receiving stolen property. Tranquill remained in the Erie County Prison on Thursday night on $25,000 bond. Driscoll and Highhouse were released after posting $25,000 bond."
I hope the local police recovered the buyers' money bank before the perps got a chance to spend it.

<< <i>I like the idea of meeting inside a bank or at a police station, hadn't thought of that. Otherwise, if I meet a stranger to conduct a sale I do take precautions.

Nice piece
<< <i>The person they robbed had a gun ? >>
the only thing i can think of is that someone pulls a knife a few feet
away from you... they have the drop on you.
you do not want your son hurt so you do not escalate things until
you know he is safe and can pull the gun out.
but at that point in time if you use it while they are running you will
commit a felony so your only hope is to stop someone who is scared
enough to actually stop. that is how it seems to have played out.
