I saw some Yankees players being interviewed - they seemed a bit nervous to me. Impending doom?
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,048 ✭✭✭✭✭
Phillies players appear eager and confident - the look of a team that is a championship team.
  • softparadesoftparade Posts: 9,276 ✭✭✭✭✭
We all know the Yankees are all incredibly nervous nellies right now. We know this series is over. The Yanks blew their chance in Game 5. The chances of them being able to squeak out a win in 2 games at home with a rested Rivera are almost nil. We all know that because in 2004 when the Yanks blew a 3-O lead means it will happen again because Pedro is here to dominate the Yankees.

The Phils are going to need to score at least 10 tonight if they want to force a game seven. I see a game like the one they lost to the Blue Jays back in '93.

  • Can't wait to unwind in front of the ol' telly tonite with a cold one & watch the Yanks lock up # 27. Some sports writers have been talking about Chase Utley winning the MVP even if the Phils lose. The World Series MVP hasn't gone to a member of the losing team since 1960 but if Chase goes 2 for 4 with another homer or something like that and no Yankee has an outstanding performance I think it may happen again this year.

I have no problem with Utley winning the MVP on the losing team.

Hey, I'll admit, all kidding aside, in that game 5, 9th inning, the Yankees fought like mad dogs to get back and try to win that game - the expressions and determination in their faces was a bit frightening to an opposing fan who is rooting against them - I've developed a lot of respect for this Yankees team that is obviously hungry as yell to win...and that's what makes for dam good sport.

If the Yankees win it this season, of course in the off season they'll be pampered with money, fame, commercials, movie roles, etc, and may lose that "mad dog" edge...but for now, they have it and the Phillies are gonna need their top game and some luck to win this WS - gonna be tough.

Too bad some of there 'fans' are not as confident.

Please see your thread of 2 days ago.

If the Yankees stay away from Utley tonite and pitch to Howard.....................they WIN! Simple as that!

What happened to your loser attitude a couple of days ago??? Typical fair weather fan, thinks his team sucks when they're down, but ah, when they win it's a different story. PATHETIC!!

Hey chit for brains...I never stated or implied whatsoever that the Phillies suck...why should I...they won a championship last season and are in the World Series this year as a big underdog against a hungry, excellent baseball team...if the Phillies lose, that's not the definition of a team that sucks. Next time try to make some sense before you post. Capiche?

big underdog? image Come on .... please don't make it sound like the Yanks were facing the Colorado Rockies. I don't care what most talking heads have said ..... the Phillies were in no way shape or form "big underdogs" in this series.

If the Yankees can hold back from his off speed junk and make him throw fastballs, Pedro will be shelled. It's going to be tough to beat Pettitte at home in a World Series game. I like the way this looks for the Yankees if they just follow my advice image

Update: I just got off the phone with Girardi to tell him how today's lineup must approach Pedro. He thanked me for my call and stated he couldnt have gone through this year without me image
  • OK, I hate to admit this........but.....................................................I wouldn't mind seeing the Yankees win for one reason only,
and that's because Mr. Steinbrenner has been one heck of a nice generous guy to our military.

Win one more for the boss before he meets his maker.

    BTW, go Phillies ! image

I got my favorite pizza and am ready. Mary J. Blige looked like a bee with those glasses.

My concerns: Andy pitching to Howard. I could see a problem there.

My surprise: Cano comes up big.

    Let's get it on!!!!!

Someone warming in the pen in the 3rd. If they have to pull pedro early how bad would that be for the Phillies if they force game 7?

yankees are getting the clutch hits so far.....
    phils getting no clutch hits...
obviously, the difference. as we creep closer and closer to the mariano zone.

I would have NEVER let pedro face mastui again, after blasting 6 foul HRs in the first at bat...

It's hard telling how many runs that bogus called 3rd strike on Arod cost the Yanks. That wasn't even close to the plate.

that about sums it up - Phils needed a near perfect game to win, and not even close to getting it. Yankees are just too good this year.

well, this is good for me...I don't have to listen to any postgame shows...I can get some paperwork done, maybe do some repairs around the house I've been neglecting...maybe I'll go outside and rake some leaves.....
