6 & 9? Nice cards! I'm not a hockey fan but I love the vintage hockey sets.

One of those tricks questions where the nicer one got a lower grade
    than the obvious.

I'll say 8 left, 7 right. Who knows anymore.

    6.5 and 5

the 5 obviously looks like a 9 but has a wrinkle??
maybe on the top right corner area??

Wow, that is a dam shame. Love the ding in the upper edge of psasetguy's card

Since when does 4 heavily touched corners = a 9?
  • mrmint23mrmint23 Posts: 2,249 ✭✭✭
Could the .5 lower be to the "asteroid" beside his left ankle? Nice Card.
  • The PSASetGuy (PSG) card looks overgraded....I IMO it is an 8.

I picked up a rare PSA 10 from PSG the other week that has a touched corner. Was a little disappointed, but the card is a hard 9, and I didn't pay much for it, so I am still happy with the card....just not really the grade and therefore price I paid.

    Clear Skies,

When they have former graders working for them and submit only 9's or 10's apparently.....

That does suck. The corners on PSG's card look soft too.
Your card looks a lot better than his.

Regardless of what the flip says, that card is not a 9

Don't PSG's cards almost always look soft in their scans?
  • jeffcbayjeffcbay Posts: 8,951 ✭✭✭✭

<< <i>Don't PSG's cards almost always look soft in their scans? >>

Yes, they need to invest in a scanner that has a charge-coupled device (CCD). So do I, for that matter. My slabs are all fuzzy like that, due to the distance from the scanner's glass to the actual card in the plastic case.
  • CrimsonTiderCrimsonTider Posts: 1,381 ✭✭✭
It is really difficult to tell by the scans. I believe that the 8.5 is a much better scan. The 9 has a fuzzy scan and does not have a black background. I'm going to go with PSA on this one and say that the 9 has an horrible scan with a white background, thus causing shadows which makes the card look as if it has touched corners.

I would like to see these two side by side.

    I could be wrong.

  • Gonna need a scan of the back to accurately grade these two cards. From the front you got jobbed. I've been noticing that back centering has been killing some of my grades. Something I didn't pay a lot of attention to before. Also, different scanning equipment makes a huge difference. Scan his on your machine and yours on the other machine and we'd probably complain about the grade you got.
