1952 Topps

Is anyone else collecting 52 topps in PSA holders? My ultimate goal is PSA 7+ but I'll probably have to settle for less on pafko, mantle, mathews. I don't expect to finish within the next 10 years, but who knows?

Here's where my basic set is at right now after about two months at it...things will slow down a bit now.

there is a thread for the 52 topps set started. lets see some scans!!
not happens on the thread i posted some before, but i have been picking up some raw cards recently, try to di it and post some scans, maybe it will motivate to get back in.
good luck with the set my is in the 5-6 range.

I'm on a slow climb at PSA 8. I have around 15 cards so far. I'm only buying well centered 8s. I'm in no hurry, so I hope I can finish it before I retire!

Is there a consistency regarding the scarcity of the red backs vs. the black backs? In checking out VCP, it looks like red backs on some cards sell for more, black backs for others. What's the deal?

So, do a lot of you use vintagecardprices? I was checking it out, and I was wondering how good it is. Are scans of sold cards available, or just prices?

thought about the set in psa 5's but the mantle, pafko and mathews steer me away. maybe later down the line ill give it a shot. good luck with it

Yeah, I had Mathews in 6. Camp, Mays, Reese in 7 my first go with this set...I sure wish I still had them.

Here's the one card I have left from when I tried this set about 6 years ago. It has mint corners, and I'm hoping for a 7 when I send it in. Hopefully the centering isn't too far off. It definitely looks better than many of the 7s I have.

W/o measuring Gregg looks like a 7. No problem t/b. Only isue l/r. When one of these '52's is o/c, the huge white borders on this issue make them look more o/c than they really are.

Good to see some people going for the 1952 topps set! I had my 52 set at 60% in 7 or better when the $ was needed elsewhere. Oh well.

I have these high #s that just popped, plus a few others. Also, I have a sharp cornered psa 5 #330 Turk Lown as well. PM me if interested. I also have a psa 7 Mays on ebay under my user ID bkritz. A sweet 7!

I have just been picking up low grade commons both graded and raw for fun, not keeping track of what I have and dont care about dupes or the set. ONE day I will go through it maybe another 40 years or so

A couple more came in today...I got the Pesky for a great price. I already had the black back, but I couldn't pass up the deal. I also grabbed the Zernial raw and it looks great. There is some discoloration on the back so I'm not sure what to expect for a grade, but even if it only comes back as a 6 I will have basically broken even.
Maybe you guys could take a look and grade the Zernial for me? The scans get in pretty close, and I don't see any wrinkles or surface problems. I'd love a 7.5, or even an 8 but I'd be quite happy with a 7. It has 3 basically untouched corners, so it really should be an 8 imo. Centering is basically perfect.

No, but I will have to sell some of them. I just went a little too far and when I look at how much I've spent in 3 months it just doesn't make much sense. I'm also reconsidering my goals and I think I'll start buying more psa 6 and less psa 8. $200+ for commons is a little silly, really. Also, there are other cards I want and I'm spending all my $$$ on this set.

It turns out it's harder to quit than I thought. I've been selling some cards, but I couldn't help myself with this one. It's a pop 2 with none higher.

Mint '52 Topps high numbers are never a bad thing. I would want to hold onto it forever.

The card came in today. Here's a scan of the back...it doesn't seem real until you hold it in your hands

Now, if I could get the previous owner to relinquish his hold on the cert# I could add this to my registry.

This card is so nice...it must be the centering on the back keeping it from grading higher because the front is sweet. The top two corners are mint, and it's the only 7.5
