Coin club silver prices

At a coin club meeting I mostly tracked the silver items at auction to see how exuberant the market for silver is:
A 1964 year set (85 cents in silver face) went for $8. A partially full 20th century type set in a Whitman push folder with $2.90 in silver went for $35. Four silver dollars (decent looking AU Morgan/Peace) went for $51. One common Merc dime went for $2 when two kids bid it up, one silver Washington quarter snuck through at $1.75 (7x face). A common date Barber half with full rims went for $10. Keep in mind, that if one of the kids in the club bids on an item, usually the other members will stand aside. There were zero slabbed coins at this auction.
So no exuberance for silver at the club. Many are only willing to buy at the old prices of 10x or less for many silver coins. Even the silver dollars which typically sell for a modest premium over melt, sold for less than current melt value (4 dollars for $51).
There were two visitors, buddies of each other, asking about places to buy gold coins at a reasonable price.
The curious can search for the Culver City coin club and find the next meeting date and location.
