We are all aware of the idea that gold is almost twice as dense as silver, but not often do we get to really see what a sizable difference this truly is! The Degussa 50g silver bar is a recent purchase I made specifically for this reason.

I have never seen a Degussa 50g Pt bar, or any Pt bar from them for that matter. Im fairly sure someone has made one. With Pt and Au being so close to eachother in SG, I cannot imagine there would be a noticeable difference in the size of the 2 bars.

Yea - and I'd like to see it compared to a bar of Upsidasium from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show

Magnesium - Nickel - Tungsten.
All are a machined slug, about 1 1/4 inches in diameter and 2 1/2 inches tall.
Tungsten is as dense as gold.
Magnesium...same volume. One tenth the weight.
The nickel is right in the middle.
A good photo would involve a balance showing the absurd weight difference between tungsten and magnesium.
Gold is insanely heavy. It really is quite amazing. Few folks have experienced this physically, as it is rare to be able to pick up a bar of gold that weighs over a kilogram.
