Then went to kitco as I expected to see PMs drop off because of the news BUT its gone up!!!

I'm guessing a lot of people do not believe him or some of the economists that are saying the same things he is saying.

The recession may be over, but the inflation is just getting started.

  • Even if that is true, there are still a lot of underlying issues that are unresolved. Also, our government is still trying to spend MORE money we don't have.

I think he means the recession is over for the stock market because of all the tarp money he has pumped in. Never mind all of the companies dumping jobs. It is going to be ugly when the tarp money stops flowing unless the REAL economy has returned by then.

gold over 1k and silver over 17 now but Bernanke says recession over

When has Bernanke been right about anything with the course of the economy or banking system since he took over? He under played the mortgage crisis and said sub-prime would not impact the markets. How far off was that? At each point he has stated the problem is contained or that green shoots are appearing. When has he called anything right? I would believe the opposite of what comes out of the FED and Treasury. If you can't keep gold down with Comex and paper derivative's games then talking it down is one of your last options. Can't get any more mileage about threatening to sell the IMF gold for the umpteenth time....lol. If you don't believe the govt economic stats why would you believe their public statements?

Even Greenspan is on the "talk" circuit saying that PM's are reflecting currency "issues." Well yeah......when has it ever been otherwise? After 43 years, he's starting to remember his old gold bug glory days.

Exact-a-mundo. He was wrong when he said housing prices wouldn't drop and he was wrong when he told Congress we would not
monetize the debt. Either he's a liar or he's clueless. In any case, I don't think anyone but koolaid drinkers believe him.

image is what made gold move
you think about it for awhile and it's amazing

  • When Ben takes the time to make a statement like that you can be sure he is worried and it is just another lie designed to

    "manage perceptions"
  • My point is what will the dollar be worth he is spending !!!
as is the gold market pricing !!!
    amazing
    i know i wouldn't hold that bag
but china no problem ya right!!

Up is down- down is up.

Considering that they backdated the start of the recession by two quarters, perhaps they're getting a head start on backdating the end of the recession...

The recession IS over! No question about it......Unfortunately the DEPRESSION is now upon us......

These comments are from the guy who warned us all about the economic downturn.....yeah right!

Now that I actually saw Ben's actual statement:

The recession is very likely over

it's a total non-committal statement. It means nothing and says nothing. He's right no matter what happens.

Ben did not say the recession is over. But by the media response he might as well said it was over.

Up is down- down is up.

That pretty much nails it down, especially when the currency is fiat and the politicians can do whatever the **** they want.

    Maybe that's going to change.
