Home Metal Detecting

Does anyone specifically look for gold nuggets with their metal detector?

With gold over $1K/ oz, I am thinking about some trips to the hills where they found gold 100-150 years ago

I am wondering if anyone is willing to admit to any success

  • I've seen a few shows on either the Discovery Channel or the History Channel about people who do this - go out and look for nuggets. I think some people even instruct people (for a fee) on how to find nuggets.

Absolutely... many, many people do this. Google Moore's Creek.... they are in Alaska, and for a fee you can stay there and keep all you find. Lots of gold left out there... Cheers, RickO
  • Yep, it's called "nugget shooting"

I did look once, at a site in California called Itallian Bar with a nugget shooter giving me advice. I had no luck. It was a lotta work!

Picked up mostly "hot " rocks and bullets with my Goldmaster.
