Probably. But watch out for the London or NY open slams. This is bond week once again as well though gold sort of plowed through the last one. Gold to silver ratio now at the lowest it's been since last year....getting ready to break into the high 50's. GSR dropping usually means higher metal prices to come.

The Sept rally might have a tough time with the next bond week in late September when the G20 is meeting as well in Pittsburgh. That Friday is also the start of gold futures/options expiring so lots of reasons to end the Sept rally that week.

It will be an interesting day when the average US resident wakes up to find gold over $1000, perhaps to stay above $1,000 this time. I am glad I added a bunch of ounces in US commemoratives this last week on ebay.

Already took out the Feb $1007 high with a $1008. And the day/week are still early. That only leaves $1033 left.

Let's see, the dollar is still getting hammered and the stock market is up - and gold gets hit. Doesn't make too much sense, but since when does it have to make sense?

Roadrunner is right - But watch out for the London or NY open slams. This is bond week once again as well - lots of ways that gold could get hit, but in the end - lots more reasons that it will win out.

Gold stocks sort of blew off this morning in a frenzy and have now pulled back about 5% with downward momentum still intact. It was sort of a head fake but they basically returned to about the levels they started from on Friday. Physical gold doing better and sort of steady on the mid-$990's but the action on gold stocks is bearish. After a week of blowing higher both physical and miners need a breather. And this week is a prime candidate. Maybe some consolidation for the next few days and then resuming the trend once the bond 30 yr bond auction is completed on Thursday.

For now, the last interim gold high of $1007 was taken out as well as the last interim low for the dollar around 77.4. This puts both gold and the dollar back to challenging 2008 highs/lows.
