Richard Seymour traded to Oakland for a first round pick in 11... We needed to do this to lock up future HOFer Vince Wilfork so Im ok with it.

Shrewd move. I suspect the rookie class must have been better than expected.

  • Any trade with the Raiders results in a top 5 pick in the draft...

Very saddened to hear about any player being traded to the Raiders. Hopefully he can get out of that organization very soon. image

I think there was a second reason for this. They believe Oakland's pick will be top 10 in 2011. Sounds to me like they want a high pick to draft Brady's heir-apparent for the 2012 season. He would sit behind Tom in 2012 and play in '13 or '14. Thoughts?
  • Belichick doesn't target specific players or positions even a week before the draft. Doubtful he would start doing so now two years away. . .

Anything is possible, no worries though Belichek knows what he is doing. Either way if they use the money to sign Wilfork long term it will be worth it, no disrespect to Seymour but Vince is much more valuable, like I said Belichek knows what is best as far as Brady's heir there is no way of telling how it will shake out especially that far down the road and with so many possibilities.

Brady says he wants to play another 10 years which is a stretch IMO, I just hope he can guid us to another Super Bowl win- or two or three ect .. image

another reason it is a 2011 pick, is because of the uncapped year in 2010, and some sort of rookie salary scale that will probably be implemented before 2011 as part of the new CBA...so not only will the Pats likely get a top 10 pick, they won't have to spend as much signing that player.

Based on the tone of your first post I can't help but feel like you've been here before.

Why do people say that? The NFL is not about loyality it is about wining now. If Seymore would have bolted as a free agent would you be saying the same? Not likely, it is always the organization - it's a business not a moose lodge.
