Many times I have heard Saintguru's words that "no one ever got burned by passing on a coin*" when considering a purchase. Probably saved me several thousand bucks over the years.

Yep. the one you mentioned has saved me quite a few $$$ over the years.

But the most important one ever was "buy the book before the coin" which now, with the advent of the vast info of the internet, expands to "do your research before you buy anything"

Currently applying that logic to purchasing a banjo.
