1999 p Jefferson nickel doubles

I have a 1999 P Jefferson nickel that has clear doubling of the date, mintmark and most of the other lettering. I'm obviously not a collector - just a saver who's been looking through coins. Would this be something that would be valuable and how do I find out?

Could just be hub doubling, but we won't know for sure unless you can post a pic image

    'Tis what I was thinking.

I'm going to go out on a limb here without a picture and say... if the coin has all this doubling in different areas... like 1999 is actually in two places on the coin and not right on top of each other with very little spread, then you might have something good, as in double struck. 1999 was notorious for having tons of struck errors (off-centers, broadstrikes, etc)

If it's not what I described above, then without pictures, I'll go 97.2% for hub doubling since there are no known DDOs currently for that date.

    And Welcome to the Boards!

Welcome aboard Pudder, as you may have realized, we need a picture to conclusively identify the anomaly you have encountered. Cheers, RickO

Perhaps your choice of words failed bhut IMO a "hub" doubled coin worth be worth a fortune!

A machine doubled coin would not.

A double struck coin would have a premium depending upon the clarity of the first strike and any degree of rotation or even flipping.

However, being a newbie, the OP should simply post a picture.
