Home Coin Swaps, Tags and Giveaways

Lonelyp's first TAG signup thread I now have the box home, will check it later

Well,
I'm done with TC71's tag, and WILL be starting my own box on it's way AFTER Labor day.

My box will have many coins you MAY have already seen, in TC71's tag OR Claychaser's tag.

You MUST be: BOOM, TC71, AND CLAYCHASER approved to sign up.

You MUST: PM contact info to me. (Even the old hands had/have to)This will be stored in a file, and deleted after the tag is complete.

I will edit this post with RULES and other mumbo jumbo later as I have to go to work very soon. I'm going to reserve the next 2 posts for editing in the TAGGERS list, and a coin listing. But you can start to sign up, if you want to. image

VALUATION:
Some coins are listed with the assigned value from the tag I got them from. Some values will be taken from the PCGS price guide.
A few will be MY PRICE. Take it or leave it, thats what I want.

SHIPPING, CUSTODY AND RISK OF LOSS:
You are fully responsible for the care and custody of the coins in your possession. If the coins are lost or stolen, you will have to reimburse me for the full value of the box, when you recived it, please be careful! The coins will be shipped REGISTERED and INSURED mail in a NEW, USPS FLAT RATE BOX, no exceptions. You can get free boxes from your PO or you can order them for free at the PO website. Do NOT ship "certified", and do NOT use UPS, Fed Ex, etc. These services insurance does NOT over losses to coins! For those who have not shipped registered mail, you will need to get the paper tape and seal all edges of the box so the clerk can stamp each tape line. If you use the flat rate box, it's not too bad. The cost to ship registered and insure a $3000 flat rate box is about $25.00 anywhere in the 48 USA.

TURNAROUND:
The deadline to ship the box is Tuesday if you get it by the previous Friday. This gives you a weekend to evaluate and to get approval from the host. If there is a mail delay, or you need additional time, please contact me asap for a one week extension.

If you pass on the box, you can go to the end of the line for another shot later.

DIBBS:
If you want to let the group know you are interested in a certain coin by calling DIBBS, you may. BUT it may not be there when you get the box.

LEGAL:
I hate to have to post this, and I trust that this would not be the case with this group: In the event that someone does not ship the box, or loses or absconds with the coins, that person is fully and legally responsibile to make restitiution to me for the full stated value of the box, which is stated above, plus any legal and other reasonable costs incurred to collect. Any legal actions or legal disputes will be governed by Nh. law, with any legal action taking place in Nh., unless the law dictates otherwise. All participants warrant that they are of legal age to make a contract.

Want list:
Let me put it this way. I would like this to come home with as many or more coins. I would like to see diversification. Peace dollars, Walkers, maybe Busties, or Barbers or commems.

And strictly for me, FB Mercs. Dates and mm NOT in my original listing
The Mercs in the box are my dupes.

Hi Steve,

This is a good question:

"Let us know, however, what rules apply to the value of coins being traded IN to the tag box. Thanks again,
Steve "

The MY PRICE items are limited, A 2006 20th anni, ASE set (OMP), a 3 coin Statue Of Liberty commem set (OMP), and a 1999 silver proof set. And I KNOW you could get them cheaper on ebay right now. I don't mind if these items come back home.

I would say:
Use a resent TAG or purchase price, if you have one. If you don't, use the PCGS price guide, - a bit for NGC, and a bit more for ANACS.
Between this and working out an agreement with me should do it. I think I'm a pretty reasonable guy. Not overly greedy.
(Under my breath)
gimme, gimme, gimme.

Example: 2 coins now listed, at the PCGS guide price of the next lower grade. (1 NGC and 1 ANACS)

  • Well,

Nobody else signed up over the weekend. image

I need to pick up a flat rate box, and plan to ship to Boom Wed, Thurs, latest.

As at least 1/2 of the content came from TC71's last 2 tags, and Claychaser's last tag. I want to hold them for the last 2 spots. To give the content a chance to change a little, before they get it.

I don't know about accepting LATE signups?

I have decided to call DIBBS on 1938 5C PCGS AU55 $5.00. I understand that the dibbs provision of this tag is a bit toothless, but I figure it probably wouldn't kill anyone to let this one slip through to me. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

  • Paul- ya should of told me to look at the coins first before OM;n me on the swap- I'm in and..

    I'm callin DIBBS on:

    59-D Frankie 65 FBL
    61-D Frankie 64FBL
    63-D Frankie 64FBL

We will talk when it gets to me..

    I guess.

  • Boom needs a little time, so I'm holding the launch for the weekend, then checking back wit him before shipping.

Maybe I'll get lucky and a couple more taggers will sign up over the weekend.

Pkg is en route - Registered Insured - same type/ size Flat Rate Priority Mail Box.

Registered No. RA962468835US - cost to ship $27.50 .... exactly what it cost when I got the box!

    Have fun Augie. image
  • What is it with registered mail tracking?

It allways seems to go "Acceptance" when you bring it in to the PO.
and go straight to "Delivered" with no info posted between the stops. image

I have noticed that too. When waiting for a package, I like to know where it is. Once I have it, I really don't need them to tell me that I have it.

UPSP really only has a glorified (& costly) delivery confirmation system.
This was discussed in a Recent Thread.

Personally, if the cost for insurance is similar, I'd rather sent it Priority ONLY.
Gets to where it needs to go a H E L L of a lot faster.

I'll let everyone know when the package finally arrives.

  • BoomBoom Posts: 10,165
Priority, Flat Rate, Insured with Signature Confirmation would work just fine

and would be a lot faster and cheaper. Registered Mail is slow and useless.

Once the USPS takes posession of an Insured Package they are responsible for it. PERIOD!

I'd ditch the Registered bit, FWIW! It's useless as teets on a boar hog IMHO!
  • WELL,

I'm not going to be the first!!!!

If the next TAG runs without registered mail, so be it.

But I think we had better stick with it for now. Even if the tracking is a crule joke.

  • Hey Taggers,

I'm looking for some NICE AU or better RAW coins from the 30s. This would be a side deal from the tag. Shipped direct to me. Cash or trade from the tag box.

Pics would be very nice. I need them for a GIFT I've had in mind for a long time, and want to get done.

It would be a 1930 BIRTH YEAR SET, but they didn't make all of the coins in 1930. So I'm going decade instead.

    Thanks for any help.
    image

    Boom.
Since you have already had the tag box. If you have any Raw 30s coins Please PM me and we can talk about a cash deal.

  • Paul- I think I'll pass on this tag altogether, seeing how the 'dibbs' option is not honored by you or anyone here, nor is there any assemblage as to who will get this box in any formation, I truly don't have time for this.

Just an FYI, both Claychaser and TC71 have run very successful tags and the format is easy to follow and seems very acceptable.

Hell even Boom's swaps work to perfection 95% of the time.

Might want to rethink what you put in for rules and how you present the 'options'. Had I known it was a worthless thing- I would never have jumped in..

enjoy guys- maybe next time around- after the first of the year!

    Well I'm sorry.

It is true I don't have a set shipping order, This is because I had 6 taggers to start with. Boom did ask to be first, but everyone else said they prefered to be late in the list. I didn't think this would cause trouble for anyone but me. And asking "Who wants it next" isn't that much different from, You're next, take or pass?...Pass...I'll pass too...I'll take it". Now is it?.

    As far as Dibbs goes:
If I have another tag I won't have any Dibbs at all.

Claychaser's "Dibbs Rule" was limited to 1 coin. And we taggers were obliged to leave it alone.

I didn't set this limit, nor did I guarantee it/they would be left alone.
Maybe, just maybe, if I had set the limit, or you limited yourself to 1 coin. Ajia would have worked around it.

But next time, if there is a next time, There will be no Dibbs.
