The Official Thread - "I need it, it's cheap, it's obscure, but I can't find it!"

Do any of you have any cards that you need for your collection that is inexpensive, but it's such an oddball card that you can't find it? It thought I would start a thread so that maybe we could help each other out. Post your needs here and why you need it and maybe we could all pitch in and give leads on where we can find certain cards.

As I've stated on here many times, I collect St Louis Cardinals team sets.

I have looked off a while on these and I can't seem to find these.

1 - 1988 Topps Portfolio/Folder Jack Clark, Vince Coleman, Tony Pena, Ozzie Smith, and Todd Worrell. (FOUND ALL OF THESE)

2 - 1990 Topps Glossy Rookies (Foil Test) Ken Hill. There are tons of Ken Griffey Jr's on Ebay. There is even a complete set on Ebay, but I'm not spending $80 for a card that is worth $2.00. (FOUND)

3 - 1990 Donruss Super DK Joe Magrane. (FOUND)

4 - Any Cardinals from the 1990 Donruss Aqueous Test or Blue/White Test. I know those are a little more expensive, but I thought I would post here anyway. (FOUND AQUEOUS; NEED A FEW BLUE/WHITE)

5 - This should take the cake for most obscure - 1988 Fleer Superstars Box Panel #C6 Cardinals Logo. I think this is a box bottom card that came off of a case of 1988 Fleer Superstars (you know, the little boxed set of probably 44 cards). (FOUND)

I have looked on Ebay, sportlots.com, Becket Marketplace, and various internet stores, and can't come up with anything on these cards.

Have you tried sportlots.com or Becketmarketplace? I think I got my Cardinals TV set from one of those 2 places. I actually bought those one at a time from a couple of sellers.

I'm not bitter, it was purely meant as a joke as I can't think of many obscurities I "need" right now. Two that I had been looking for, for quite some time, recently fell into my lap and I posted them in jackstraw's Frank Thomas thread just the other day.

I promise the NNOF thread has been one of my best hobby experiences ever...I wouldn't trade it as it would have never happened without asking for help.

Ahh yes, for me it's EASY... I've been hunting for a '95 Upper Deck Electric Diamond GOLD #433 Chris Sabo.

The key is, GOLD... not the regular Electric Diamond. YES, it's obscure... as long as I've been looking for it I know it's VERY obscure.
If you were lucky enough to get a GOLD Electric Diamond insert back then, you were probably initially excited... until you discovered it was of Chris Sabo!
I'm sure most of these are in trash cans, commons boxes, or stuffed in a quarter box somewhere.

I would GLADLY pay $25 for it though... without hesitation.

I'm also on the look-out for something called a '94 Orioles Postcards #30, and a '94 Orioles Program #87... both are of Sabo.
I have no idea what these two are, or that they're really "cards."

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

I thought I had a pic of the 94 Orioles Program sheet with Ripken on it, but can't find it right now. Anyhow the 94 Orioles Program set was 108 cards and each program contained 1 of 12 nine-card sheets. They are orange bordered and the players name is printed in white on a black strip.

The 94 Orioles Postcards are 3.5" x 5" and feature a message and facsimile autograph with the team logo on back. Not sure how they were distributed.

If anyone has recently busted 81 Topps, I'm looking for any of the green scratchoff cards with Dale Murphy. To date, I know of 4 variations -

    1) Includes Murphy with Andre Dawson, Tom Seaver
    2) Includes Murphy with Andre Dawon, Vida Blue
    3) Includes Murphy with Lance Parrish, Vida Blue
    4) Includes Murphy with Gary Templeton, Omar Moreno

I'm looking for something raw, but of gradeable quality. For some reason, most of the versions I've seen (i have several hundred) the circles are all partially scratched. Its not like someone took a coin to them or anything, I just think whatever Topps used to cover the circles comes off the card easily, so if they've been sitting in Bins for a long time or have brushed up against other cards over the years, the circles get scratched off on their own. I'm hoping if anyone has recently busted packs, maybe the surfaces will still be unscathed.

    Thanks!

I thought I had updated this thread, but I don't guess I did.

I finally have the 1988 Topps Portfolio/Folders Ozzie Smith. I now actually have 2 of them. A couple of members here each sent me one back a few weeks ago. Thanks to Brian (hotmush) and Wade (mozzie22).

Now, for my reason for updating this thread today. I finally got a 1990 Topps Rookies Foil Test Ken Hill after a few years of looking. I had to buy the whole set on Ebay. Krukcards had a complete set for sale for probably over a year and was asking $60 (I think). Someone here emailed me and notified me that the set was up for auction. I sniped around $40 and it went for a couple of dollars more than that. Well, apparently, Krukcards had more than one set because they auctioned another one. I got it for $23+. I was thrilled. Looks like patience paid off.

That's 5 1988 Topps Folders, a 1990 Donruss Super DK Joe Magrane, and this Ken Hill that I have found since I started this thread and I had been looking for a very long time.

Anybody need a Griffey, Sheffield, or anybody else from this set?
