Counterfiet Ike Dollar on ebay

I really hope this guy has no idea as to what he's saying.

LOOK HERE

#170372640117

He says "You are bidding on three nice COUNTERFEIT EISENHOWER Silver Dollars. I believe these to be counterfeit and I'm selling them as such, but they have the weight, sound, and feel as the real thing."

Even if they are genuine I cannot imagine anyone wanting to pay $9.99 plus $5.99 shipping. image
  • Thats really dumb to pay 9.99 every for three normal ikes

    Dang!

I'd like to have seen that auction before it closed just to be able to examine the coins.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Lloyd, it is still up and running. Check staircoins fixed link as it is active while the OP's is not.

I also believe they're modern counterfeits but probably not made of silver.

It is against ebay policy to sell counterfeits, even if so stated, so send the seller an message and get his contact info if you are interested as the auction may not last long. --Jerry

For those who missed their chance on buying the "Ike"; this guy has 6 more presidential counterfeit coins going off on August 30th. Read the description.

How do you post a link?

all those improvements eBay is making to be a more user friendly site, sure makes it hard for me to learn where everything is - I was thinking like Braddick it was still going

This situation can be summed up in two words for all sides.

    WHY BOTHER?
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Funny that three fakes cost a lot more than the real coins.image

They look fake to me also, but the kicker would have been to see the edge of the coins and see if they were clad. So far the Chinese haven't bothered to do that, but they are working on it.

Is it really possible to counterfeit tokens? I mean, what are these?

By the way, "counterfeit" is overused and misused. Those are fantasy tokens. A true counterfeit must have an accurate and genuine counterpart. Those in the auction don't.

Don't quite understand why that remark. The auction looks like regular 1971-D Eisenhower Dollars (Can barely make out the mint mark)
Could be an "S". Never the less there are real ones of both. Then again I may be misunderstanding your remark. Please clarify if I am. It has been known to happen.

At least one of them is a rather unique "Ike."

I highlighted the auction number within your post and upon opening the item on eBay, copied and pasted it here.

Copy the URL you want to link to your clip board. If you don;t know how to do this, just ignore the rest of the post.

Reply or create a thread where you want to post the link.

When the reply window opens, click the little icon which shows http followed by the picture of a chain. (Hint: image )

    image

After you click the button, a script window will pop up asking for the URL you want to link:

    image

NOTE THAT THE HTTP:// is already highlighted! Press CTRL+V to paste the copied URL into this window then press either Enter or OK.

    Another script window will popup:

    image

This is asking you for the text which the reader selects to get to the link. Typically its the words Link or LinkyPoo or could even be Click Here.
The word Text is already highlighted so just key in whatever you want and select OK.

You'll get text inserted into your reply or thread that looks something like this:

    [ L=Linky Poo ]http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=355258&highlight_key=y&keyword1=link&keyword2=instruction [ /L ]

Select the PREVIEW Button and TEST your link!

If it does what you want then select Reply to Thread.

There is a Testing Forum designed for new users to test out their posting prowess. I suggest you use it before actually trying to post a link.

NOTE: There are two link buttons: image and image

image is designed solely for secure links and can only be used with "https://" URL's. Likewise, posting an "https://" URL into the regular old image scripts usually causes unpredictable results.

Stew: The remark was aimed at the Second auction the seller has up. Not the auction of the Original Post.

  • Thanks for the clarification Lee, thought after posting that maybe it was a situation that someone was seeing something that
I was not on the Ike's.
