9/4/09 update: I have skin cancer - surgery was today - post your AT and NT coins

The results of the biopsies won't be back for a few days so i need some cheering up!
9/4/09
hello again. It has been exactly two weeks since the surgery and a few days ago I found out that
while there was still some cancer it was all cut out and the biopsies of the lymph modes were negative.
so for the most part I am good and am healing very well. Thank you all for the well wishes, it means a lot.
As for the type of cancer that I had it was a malignant melanoma. I urge everyone out there to pay attention
to your skin and any moles. If they start to change color or shape or consistancy have your dr or dermatologist
take a look at it immediately. Skin cancer, as is all cancers, is very dangerous and can be deadly if left untreated.

don't you need to change your title?
if the biopsies aren't back, how do you know it is cancerous?
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
to do otherwise. Skin cancer is just about the most easily treated.
Even if worse comes to worse there are always those who have it
far far worse.
Best wishes.
I have never had it (thank god), but my wifes cousin died at age 28, and 4 of my co-workers have had some sort of cancer, 1 passing away from it.
Best wishes, and praying everything works out.
Will post a toner soon.....will try to find an AT so I can get flamed & have you start of thinking of that instead.

<< <i>Oh I already had that ... so now there's a scar on my face ... which will eventually fade out. At ANA, when someone asked me what happened to my face, I told them it was because I had outbid Sperber on a coin at auction. (Also, at Legend's table, I told one of their clients that Laura gave me the scar. I think he believed me !!! He did not look amused.)

<< <i>if the biopsies aren't back, how do you know it is cancerous?
Most cancer surgeries are only performed if cancer has already been diagnosed thru a biopsy. Generally speaking, after skin cancer surgery, the surrounding healthy looking tissue is biopsied just to insure that all the cancer was removed.
I wish you well jmcu12.

Hey, having had several basal cell skin cancer growths removed, as long as you don't have melanoma it's no big deal.

Nine years ago, I too was diagnosed with skin cancer - it turned out to be a class - four
melonoma and had the back of my right leg removed and they went down to the bone
to make sure they got all the cancer. My Lymph nodes came back clear so, I was lucky.
A year of daily Chemo-therapy was performed as a precaution and later, monthly check ups showed
good blood work and after two years my check ups became semi annual then after five years,
my check ups are now annual. So far, I'm clear of cancer and hope that I stay this way.
Good luck - my thoughts are with you.
