Added a few boxes to my meager collection today.

A few months ago, I bought a wax box of 1988 Fleer Basketball because they are beautiful cards, and its just so darn cool to say I have one! Well today I visited the top notch BBCE (which is a 40 min drive from my home) to add to my unopened box collection. The theme im going for is boxes of my youth. I collected primarily from 1985 till about 1991, which is 99% overproduced garbage. Thats ok with me though since "recapturing" those days through BBCE and unopened wax is relatively painless on the wallet. I picked up the following 3 boxes this morning. I cannot for the life of me recall ever even SEEING a 1987 Fleer cello pack back in the day. Hell, '87 Fleer in any form was tough to come by from my recollection. Enjoy!

I never did pull a Kevin Seitzer RC. I hope you pull a nice, minty fresh one
<< <i>1987 Fleer was the bomb back in the day. There was only one place in my hometown that had them..Albertson's grocery store. They had the 3 wax pack rack packs. Whenever I had a few extra bucks, I would beg my mom to take me there and I would buy a couple of packs.

I wont be pulling anyone...these unmolested boxes are "the prize" to me. Considering I'd have to pull 35 Will Clarks to pay for this box ($35), it makes no sense to bust it. Same goes for the other 2 boxes.....I like them for what they represent, and thats the ability to survive 2 decades worth of temptation in opening them so far. I hope to carry that torch for another 20 years before I pass them on. In fairness, I DID recently buy/bust an '87 Fleer wax box purely for fun. Got the Bonds, Clark, Jackson, and Larkin cards. Was very satisfying emotionally, but not even CLOSE to being worth it financially, which isnt what im going for anyway. I just like the complete box idea I guess.
<< <i>Meager-schmeager, collect what you like! Nice pickup. >>
I agree Mike!
I really like the 87F!
I've got plenty of newer wax that I'll open when I'm retired and just sit back and enjoy the cards.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. Sip a few martinis, rip a few packs, a little on line poker.
