    EO -

Not sure if you saw, but Memory Lane has a ton of 9's in their current auction. Most of them are being auctioned in groups of 20.

y, unfortunately i dont need any of those cards if you can believe it! like i said, this last 15% is gonna be a tuff stretch...makes the 72 set i did seem easy.
  • A set break of the the #1 registry set has just been listed
on eBay. Looks like EO's set is about to become even more
incredible. Every time I see it climb the registry ladder I just
    don't know what to say........only WOW !!!!

  • So, 3 of the top registry sets have been/are being auctioned off over the past 2 months, is that right? Bussineau, Memory Lane, and now the one on eBay? Interesting...
  • I am breaking my 71 set this week on Ebay. I finally managed to sneak in ahead of Spence, thought that was a good time to retire it and move on to another challenge. Plenty more 9's for Eric to pick up.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

  • Guess I won't be auctioning mine anytime soon with so many going on the block this summer. Took me 9 years to complete in all PSA 8's...

    Haven't checked where I am on the registry lately. I was 8th last I looked - stu's 71's

You're tied at 10th. I have no plans to sell my primary set as it was excruciatingly difficult to build it in 8+. I've probably handled 6 high grade sets over the years to reach that 8.00+ level. high grade 71s don't grow on trees. They will hold their value over time.
  • This has taken years to put together, the mint 71s definitely don't grow on trees...but cards have been in a decade long bear market...but they, like stocks, will have their day in the sun again. for now its gold and t-bills, but it wont be like that forever.
  • Well, just added some more 9s, up to 88% complete now...now it gets super tough. Any help with any of the remaining cards I need much appreciated.

  • I don't collect 71's, but some of the 9's in the memory lane auction looked great.

Mint 9 Gaylord Perry for $161? Seems pretty cheap for a hall of famer. That Dusty Baker is pretty sweet, $2,000.

Yep, $161 for a Mint Perry is crazy. I think that's a pop 7. It's a great time to be a buyer of PSA 9 1971s since the market has been flooded with them recently.

I never focused on them in the past because they were so expensive and rare. Do you think the Blyleven and Reggie Jackson will always be $2,900 to $3,400?

Probably so. Pricing fluctuates over time, so they may dip a bit below those levels but then go back up. I wouldn't hold out hoping to get those two for well below $2000 though.
  • Well, 90% done and moved into the Top 10 finally! When I embarked on this mission, the legendary Frank Bakka said doing the 71 set the way I did my 72 set was impossible, and while the last 10% will remain elusive I'm sure, IT WILL BE DONE!!!

So all you folks out there, keep submitting raw and throwing the good stuff on ebay for me!

Well done Eric. I notice you sold the Powell though. Being a pop 1, how are you going to replace it?
  • It's a Pop 2, I still have one in my set.

    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
