If I'm not mistaken I thought only those with player sets could vote.

    Good for you.

Hmm I wonder if it was just player registry memebers, or all registry members.

    Interesting new development.
    E-mail from Cosetta.

<< <i>Dear Set Registry Members, There has been a lot of discussion and debate over the hand-cut/perforated issues as it relates to the Master Sets in the PSA Registry.
We have listened to feedback and we even held a poll. The poll reflected that the majority wished to keep the sets as is. That said, after much thought, I have decided to review each of these issues on a case by case basis and slowly begin modifying the Master Sets where appropriate.
Whether you agree with this approach or not, please understand that we are doing this in what we believe are the best interests of the registrants and with the big picture in mind.
The truth of the matter is that some of these so-called variations are not variations at all. They are the exact same item that has been cut in various ways by hand. In my opinion, if we don’t make the adjustments now, it will create a host of unnecessary and nonsensical requirements for collectors in the long run.
The modifications that we make will not happen overnight and, even if some of items are eliminated from the Master Sets, that will not prevent you from placing those items in the Collectors Showcase. It certainly doesn’t prevent people from collecting them outside of the PSA Registry.
While this was a hard decision, we do believe it is the right one.
The PSA Set Registry is an ever-evolving venue, and as it continues to grow, it is inevitable that other controversial issues will arise. The Registry staff will continue to manage issues like this as best they can in hopes of providing the best possible experience for the collectors. Sincerely,
    Joe Orlando

  • Thanks Joe. It is a good decision because it makes sense. There was obvious confusion as to the first set of questions as evidenced by the comments on the Message Board. I for one do respect and appreciate your willingness to look once again at this issue and take corrective actions.

  • Good decision Joe! Handling the issue on a case by case basis is a great way to approach the issue. There are going to be some exceptions, and PSA's attention to detail in this matter shows how seriously it takes the Registry. Sorry for the blank post before - I accidentally hit the enter key before I typed anything.

Has anyone noticed any changes with the panels in relation to the Ryan or Clemente sets?

swartz -- for the Clemente registry, all of the "partial" panels have been removed.

All of the complete panels remain in the registry.

It appears that the panel issue has reared its ugly head again. Just noticed that in the Dale Murphy registry, there are now 2 composite slots for the same 79 Hostess Hand cut-

Composite slot 1) 1979 HOSTESS DALE MURPHY HAND CUT card#121
    Composite slot 2) 1979 HOSTESS BOCHTE/MATLACK/MURPHY HAND CUT-PANEL

For Hostess cards in the player sets you can have 2 card types/slots
    Slot 1 is for single & non-manufactured combo (either/or)
Slot 2 is for the 3 card panel from manufacturer

    Hope this helps.

Just to add my 2 cents as a panel colelctor, there should be only TWO options for the master sets :
    (1) the hand cut card of the individual and (2) the panel as it was printed by the manufacturer.

To expand on this we all know that all Bazooka panels have 3 players i n the panel.

PSA should not be grading panels where one card has been lopped off (probably damaged) and the other two are graded as a panel. I have sen hese now available for Bazooka, Drakes and several others.

If a 3 card panel with MAntle in it hs one card removed that does not make it a new panel. It should not be graded.

Same for stamps. Grade the entire sheet (however many stamps that is) or the single separated stamp.

Also lets stop this "full box crap" The mante set actually has both the 1959 bazoka card (recall these were 1 large card per box) and the full box. Come on.......

  • << In my opinion, they are not "variations" at all. There are, in truth, the same exact card...they just appear in different forms depending on the way they were or weren't cut or removed (complete panels, partial panels, solo, etc). >>

    +1
option 1 is the correct path IMO - seems like many of the votes that went #2 are folks who already acquired all the different "cuts" of the same card. No one should have expected registry perfection at inception. Therefore, there have to be allowances for reasonable adjustments along the way. Joe's opinion seems most reasonable to me.
