    Its all relative
  • what i mean is what do i tell my family to do with my coins how do they sell
or what to do with my coins
anyone leave instructions or guidelines to help you family out after your gone
  • I guess it depends how many family members you are leaving them too. If more then 1 I think you should instruct them in writing how to sell the collection so they at least get a fair market value . Then they can split the proceeds equally among themselves You would be surprised the way folks fight about inheritance funds!. If you are going to leave them to only 1 person dont worry about it he or she will make the decision for you.

    mariner67, and Mikes coins
  • Yes, I Would. If you're leaving to someone who doesn't know anything of what your leaving it would be best to let them know what you/they have. I keep all receipts for everything I purchase and tuck them in the safe along with the item.

I recently decided to sell off all my "collectibles", One reason for this was in the event something were to happen it wouldn't be a burden to my family to try and sell them. This was not the only factor but did play a role in the decision.
    Its all relative
  • not worried about the fight just want her to get what it's worth
any thoughts a good deal or place to sell
    thanks for the input guys

write down were the items should be sold, such as coin store, online forum like bst, etc. Perhaps include the value of each item currently so they have an idea so they don't get ripped off by someone.

Exactly - Slabbed go to Teletrade, bullion items to the bullion buyers, or go to the BST, etc. - I have everything catagorized on a spreadsheet with cost and I have all the good websites like Apmex, Teletrade, here. My wife if I go first or our administrator (if we go together) can figure it out. I'm getting my kids interested and educated also.

Sounds like you have it down. This will definitely protect them from anyone trying to rip them off.

I have left explicit instructions what is in my collection,

where they are located, what they are worth. Also who

to contact for there sale or auction, the person's address as

well as a phone number(s). Both of my sons know where

the information is and what to do on my demise.

This preparation is a part and parcel of the need to also have

a will, power of attorney in case the principles can not

or are unwilling to act.. Family trust documents are in the Safe

Deposit box along with instructions on funeral arrangements.
There once was a place called

I have the same issue. My fiancee' doesn't know finance and she doesn't want to know it either.

I have a list that categorizes them as:

    "Very Very Valuable"

    "Very Valuable"

    "Valuable"

    "Somewhat Valuable"

    "Nominal Value"

I then have a select list of dealers with phone numbers that she can call.

She knows that the slabbed coins should be pretty easy to price from a price sheet, if needed.

She doesn't get picky until real money is involved, and then she gets pretty darned picky, so I think my list about covers it.

Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally

    I knew it would happen.
