I have updated post 1 with the participants that have posted in this thread, and an estimated amount of cards they will be sending. Please post your questions/responses, etc. on this thread and not via PM, as it helps me stay organized. I get a lot of PM’s and sometimes they fall to the 2nd page without me addressing them, and then I’m not the most competent at getting them back. I will be updating post 1 with the additional participants that have PM’ed me in reply to my original invitation over the next few days, but if you can post here, that helps so much more.
To address some of the questions/comments in this thread:
Berke23 and BigJaco – I like y’alls ideas about using electronic spreadsheets to gather the data. I prefer Excel personally, but I realize that everyone might not have access to that. Big Jaco – Can you build a web form that everyone could enter their data in to independently but when everyone was done, it would gather the data and send it to me where I could keep each person’s data together in sections of one giant submission form? Or, one that everyone could enter their data to and that it could export the data to where I could grab it in excel and cut and paste and build a giant submission form there?
Alifaxwa2 – I would prefer that all the cards be in cardsavers rather than slabs, as it makes shipping and packing a lot easier when it’s all uniform. Plus, I don’t believe PSA assumes liability for a card that is not packaged according to their directions, so if it got damaged when they cracked it, I don’t think you’d be covered.
BigJed- PSA did not charge me a higher price before when I sent a 5 signature multisigned card. However, I’ve only done that once. You might call their customer service number and ask them if multisigned cards are priced at the standard autographed card fees, and if so, then yes, you could get the bulk discount on them and could send them in this group sub.
Fatty98 – I would not anticipate shipping being that high. The problem with a small submission generally is that PSA charges a high initial overhead fee that is prohibitive when you only have a few cards. However, when doing a group sub, the economies of scale help because they are going to charge an overhead fee that will be prorated out amongst a large number of cards, and an incremental per card fee, and an incremental declared value fee. I know this is not a specific dollar amount that you are looking for, but I won’t know how much it’s going to be until we get ready to do it and we know how many cards and what the declared values are going to be.
Mike, you may want to strongly recommend that people have scans of there own cards, I imagine there will be dups of a decent number for HOF rookies. I know I am sending mostly those.
Looking to have some custom cuts or plain custom cards built? PM me.
<< <i>Mike, you may want to strongly recommend that people have scans of there own cards, I imagine there will be dups of a decent number for HOF rookies. I know I am sending mostly those. >>
That's a good suggestion and would make good sense. I know to help myself, I'm planning on scanning them as they come in and putting the images in separate folders in my PC under a file folder for each submitter. With the sticker on the back of the cardsavers with the line number, PSA should keep them straight in CA, and when they send them back, they should be in order (at least all my own personal subs have been), and the poppage should be by line number and serial number. However, it would never hurt to have the additional scans. Good suggestion.
<< <i>Also, are these going with or without qualifiers? >>
I am doing them with qualifiers, that's just a personal preference of mine as I prefer qualifiers over a downgrade. That's why I showed my Mantle in post 1 as it has a qualifier, but I probably should have explicitly stated that.

Yes I can build a webform which will take your CU login-name (for tracking); email address, and the PSA required: QTY, Sport, Card Company, Year, Card #, Card Name, Declared Value - Personal information --- I can have it email you, the submitter; myself and store in a database the information. (3x the redundancy). I'll try to throw it together tomorrow if I get a chance.
Once it's up and you approve, we can talk about how to make this easier on you.
I have about 10 I would love to submit. Maybe the ones that have a few to sub can all combine to meet the 20 card minimum. I amnot sure how to facilitate this but I am sure we can work something out

PSA just announced this special for autographs. I BELIEVE IT IS FOR THE BLUE FLIP WITH AUTOGRAPH GRADES, NOT THE RED FLIP WITH CARD GRADES LIKE I AM PUTTING TOGETHER. If you are in a hurry or if you want the blue flips, this is a good option. This is also a good option if you have unlicensed cards or cuts that you need authenticated as those can't go in the red flips.
Autograph Encapsulation Special
- August 28, 2009 Autograph Encapsulation Special
No PSA Collectors Club membership required!
You can have any sport or non-sport autographed card or cut valued under $250 authenticated and encapsulated for only $10 by taking advantage of PSA/DNA's September special for autographs.
As an added bonus for the month of September, you can have the autograph graded for only an additional $5. If you choose to have the autograph graded, you will be able to use that piece to participate in the PSA/DNA Set Registry.
The turnaround time varies with demand.
Be sure that your submissions are postmarked by September 30th, 2009. There is no maximum quantity, submit as many autographs as you want!!
This special is valid for Sport and Non-Sport autographs that are to be encapsulated only. Please check the current holder sizes PSA currently offers to be sure your item will fit.
Here's what you need to do:
•Visit the PSA/DNA Submission Center and follow the steps to submit your items. •Fill out a PSA/DNA Submission Form on Step 2 and write "PSA/DNA GRADING SPECIAL" on the top of the form. Send your items with a check or credit card number for your authentication fees and return shipping cost to PSA/DNA using the shipping instructions on the submission form. •If you have any questions on this special please contact our customer service department at 800-325-1121 or by email at info@psadna.com. Turnaround time varies with demand.
Your order must be postmarked between September 1 and September 30, 2009, so act now!
I've been getting a lot of PM's wanting to know what the difference is between PSA's current special and the bulk sub, here it is in a nutshell.
the differences are as follows:
1) On their special, you will get a blue flip. On my deal, you will get a red flip. 2) On their special, they are authenticating the autograph only and grading the autograph only, not the card. On my deal, they are authenticating the autograph AND the card, and are grading the card, not the autograph. 3) On their special, they will do unlicensed cards and custom cuts. On my deal, it's only licensed trading cards. 4) On their special, the declared value is limited to $250 per card. On my deal, it's limited to $500 per card. 5) On their special, you can participate on the PSA/DNA set registry. On my deal, you can participate on the regular PSA registry.
As soon as Bigjaco gets through with the online submission form he's building, I'll be ready to start accepting your cards.
I believe I have the submisison for ready. Mike, if you could have a final look see to ensure you're happy and let me know I'll start taking requests.
Essentially this is the process to log your submissions helping Mike organize and print labels for everyone.
User Process: 1) PM bigjaco through CU boards. 2) you'll recieve a login and temp pwd 3) goto http://bigjaco.com/PSA/login.aspx 4) Click Edit Login at the top of the page. 5) Fill this out completely. 6) Click Add/Edit Submissions 7) Login using the credentails bigjaco supplies you. 8) Fill out the form for each card you wish to submit 9) When complete click "Finish Submission" and an email copy will be sent to you. The submission will be locked as to keep things less confusing and prevent multiple submissions. OPTION) you can export your submission via excel by clicking "Export Excel"
Questions with the web-page or problems can be addressed to me via PM.
Ok, let's get this thing going, please follow the process that bigjaco outline above, once I get the confirmation email from his form, it will include your email address. I will then email you my shipping address.
Please put each card in a Card Saver like PSA suggests, and place a blank white sticker on the top reverse of the cardsaver. I will do the writing on the cardsaver sticker myself for line and sub #. Pack them safely and securely, and ship insured for their full value in a method that I have to sign for it so they don't leave it on my porch. Include a paper copy of your excel sheet from your electronic submission so I have a packing list to check against when I receive it. Include a check or money order made out to Mike Navarro for your grading fees ($10 a card) plus 10% for shipping. (at this point, I don't know what to charge for shipping as it depends on the overall value of the sub, and I have to ship them to Collectors Universe, pay for the shipping from CU back to me, and then I have to ship them back to you, so keep in mind that's 3 trips, if shipping turns out to be more than you paid, I will hold your cards until you pay me the difference, and if shipping turns out to be less, I will refund the difference to you)
I would like to send the entire submission from me to Collectors Universe on Monday, October 19. That's 3 weeks and a weekend away, so that should give you plenty of time to get your stuff done.
Please follow the directions as it will make everything go smoothly.
<< <i>Mike, you should put a specific deadline for the cards to be in your possession.
That would help me also, since I am hoping a few more TTMs come back in time to make it into this submission. >>
If you have everything to me by Wednesday, October 14, that should give me plenty of time to get things arranged to ship out of here on Monday, October 19.

It's ok with me if some of y'all want to do the special instead. That will just be less work for me I'm still doing the bulk submission though for those that want to participate as I've already received one persons cards, another has mailed me 102 cards that are on the way, and I have mine myself to send. The special WILL BE A CHEAPER option for those of you that plan on sending cards worth $100 (or $150 depending on which is right above) or less as you won't have to pay the extra for shipping to me and then for me shipping them back to you. So I encourage those with cards less than $100.00 to use the special. You also have to have a PSA collectors club membership to use the special, so if you don't have that, you can still do my bulk deal.
For those of you that are going to be using the special instead, please have the courtesy to post here and let me know so I don't hold up the deal waiting on your cards.
Mike, most if not all my stuff falls under the $150 mark so I will just use the special but thanks for getting everything going... I think you played a part in getting psa to offer this special again!
