APMEX Buying

I see APMEX Has some "art bars" for sale from $50-$80. Does anyone know if they get these for spot price or if they pay a premium for them? You would think they would pay fairly on them since they obviously know they are worth more. Kinda falls into with the threads you always seen about unethical coin dealers ripping off customers. I guess the Customers should research and figure out what they have before selling for spot.

  • 1 thing I have noticed about AMPEX when they buy back silver or gold eagles they pay a little above spot. I like that! local dealers around my home will always pay way BELOW spot for PMs. I have found if you are selling larger amounts of PMs it pays to send them to AMPEX. I have done much busness with them and they have always treated me right!. I have never got anything from E Bay because theres just too many bad transaction reports and shenanigans!.

Do you honestly think he would get a straight answer?

They buy and sell bullion. These are collectibles.

If somebody offered to sell them "x" number of art bars and these were included in them, then they are under no obligation to pay any more for them. God bless them for keeping a collectible that will make somebody happy out of the melting pot. See the thread on the Degussa bars.

If somebody calls and asks "Do you buy collectible art bars such as xxxx?", they have the option of saying "Yes" or "No."
