Stolen coin recovered........

Today when I came home from work, I noticed that a raw uncirculated Morgan was missing off my photography table in the basement. Afer some investigation, I found out that my 15 year old daughter who babysits a couple of neighborhood childeren, had stopped by the house today to let them play Wei. After searching here, I called the mother and she started searching and found the coin under the 5 year olds pillow. (Must've been waiting for the coin fairy) I'm glad little kids like large shiny coins over small gold colored coins, as there was an Unc 1894 $5 gold piece sitting right next to it.

P.S. both coins were sitting there naked, as in no 2x2, flip or any protection, so I'm sure this Unc. Morgan went into his pocket. Doesn't appear to have caused any problems though.

Trust me, had I known there was going to be kids over, I wouldn't have. I was taking photos of them the night before and hadn't yet secured them.

I have heard of a case in which adults were accused of trying to lure young children in this way (with BIG shiny coins!). Just remember that bureaucrats dream up these things!

I think the childs mother should have a talk to the 5 year old child and teach them early thats its not right to steal other people's property. It can be explained so that even a 5 year old whould understand. Glad to hear that you got the coin back undamaged.

When I was a kid, a neighborhood boy stole his dad's quarter collection and spent it at the gameroom, putting it into Pinball machines. The father had to pay the owner to buy his coins from out of the machines. Never recovered everything.
