I've used a 1909 VDB as a pocket piece since Jan. 1 of this year. I'll image it at the end of the year and share it. Thanks for letting us know the exact date.
Not on the eagle golden will we behold his face, Nor yet on gleaming silver The honored features trace; But to the common copper, The lowly coin, instead, Has fallen the distinction Of bearing Lincoln's head
The millionaire may seldom Those noble outlines grasp, But childhood's chubby fingers The image oft will clasp. The poor man will esteem it, and mothers hold it dear-- The plain and common people He loved when he was here.
What Mr. Spock would say about numismatics... ... "Fascinating, but not logical"
<< <i>How about a 1909 poem about the Lincoln Cent.

I like it. Any idea whose work?
In 1909 you could find cute, pithy poems like this in many newspapers all across America. I wonder if that's where this originated.

Wowsers! Gotta love all the beautifully toned 1909 Lincolns.
LeeG, you still have that 1909-s V.D.B? If so, and if I were you, I'd take that with me when I hit the bars trying to make time with the ladies. Just be sure you bring your price guide and favorite "Grade by Pictures" book along with you as well. Shoot - it'd be better than having a Ferrari parked out front. (Well, almost.)
We all have light and dark within us. It's the part we choose to act on that defines us.

As I recall, from RWB's book (writing poolside in a cozy Sunset Blvd. hotel) the San Francisco cents were distributed in strict lot limits.
