2009 year of the double dies?

rec78rec78 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭✭✭
I mean with all the different double die lincoln cents found, can any of these really be worth very much? It would be a collecting experience in itself just to try to collect one of each double die. There are already 49 different double die lincoln cents listed for 2009 on the coppercoins.com website. I personally, do not yet have any 2009 lincolns. Is it worth it to buy a box of 2009 cents to search for these? Or will collector interest wane because of the overwhelming number of double dies? I think that most of them are minor league double dies.
The big one of course, is the D.C. -Denver mint quarter with the very clear doubling. I think that this one will be worthwhile, but the rest?
Any comments? Thanks!! Bob

If found in great quantities, or multiple variants (i.e. some state quarters), likely little to no value after the thrill wears off. Cheers, RickO

I agree. But, the big thing is how many of these will actually be found in circulation boxes (ie bank rolls). From what I've read the majority have only been found in specific dated Mint Boxes. Which, out of the millions produced would be limiting them to X amount of P&D sets sold by the mint. It could be something bigger or maybe not. Time will tell.
