Missed Opertunity

The US Mint missed an opertunity of my life time in my opinion.

Just imagine if the US Mint would have made a doubled die cent with dramatic doubling like the 1955 wheat, on the new Lincoln Cents..........

Of course there is always the possibility that they did and we just haven't found it yet..........................Keep looking.

Certainly could happen... though unlikely. Cheers, RickO

Huh? Are you saying the mint should have intentionally made doubled dies just for kicks? How is that the "opertunity" of a lifetime?

Due to the changes made in the minting process it is now "impossible" to duplicate that kind of doubling by accident. Anything similar to the 1955 doubling would have to be intentional.

    my point exactly..

    make 100, 1,000, even 10,000

put them out & don't tell anyone..................

you think the demand for the new cents was high, think about what it would be if someone found a new cent like I'm talking about.

Sort of like what happened in england? Then have the mint offer to buy them back at like $40 a piece. I bet not many would be sold back to the mint. image
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!
