I got this 1937 Washie in change from my local supermarket yesterday:
I asked the cashier if they had anymore of these. They opened up their cash register and went thru the rest of the quarters and then the dimes, at my request, and found nothing else that was silver. I wonder how this guy found its way into circualtion after being 70+ years old!
WOW!
I would guess that it grades G4 or so, what say y'all?

Mt grandaughter keeps getting silver quarters in change at the HS cafeteria. I buy them for 80% of spot. She likes that.

I finally received 2 Log Cabin cents in change yesterday. I think my find was more rare
Seriously though, finding any silver in change is always fun regardless of the condition/value
It is very cool to find any silver in your change.

<< <i>I cant believe people are so dumb as to spend silver coins. Hello!! >>
A few months ago my neighbor asked me to look at the old coins he had hidden in his drawer for years. But over half of them were missing, He thinks it was his son, now 15 over the years taking one every so often and spending it.
<< <i>I asked my mother if she would give me any silver coins she finds at the school she works at. Shes found a few but decided to keep them for herself >>
So let me get this straight: you want your mother to take advantage of school children and pass all the rewards from this venture onto to you... man! you are one sick puppy!
As for the coin, great find TC. Just another show case example of times being difficult!

I got a 1945-S Jefferson silver nickel in change at Dairy Queen the other day. It drew my attention because it was almost black.

Oh, and very nice find, TC!
P.S. Talk about old habits: 45 years since silver left circulation, and I still check the edge of all the dimes and quarters I get (not so much Lincolns for wheats anymore).
