I get a square with a torn paper inside.

Edited to say, I now see a coin that I cannot possibly identify.

I would say that it is a Roman sestertius, but lettering is out of focus, and I can't read enough to determine the emperor.

    Revised to say ...

After looking at the blurry stuff for a while I'd say it's Gordianus Africanus I who ruled for 36 days in 238 AD.

    But that's just educated guess.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Depending on the weight it purports to be a Sestertius (Sear 8697) or an As (Sear 8771) of Gordian III, Rome mint, 239 AD. Though no fakes of this type are recorded in FORVMs fake coin reports, it doesn't exactly match any genuine examples I could find pictures of either. The lettering looks unusually thin, but this and the strange surfaces could appear on a genuine piece subjected to a harsh cleaning. I'd lean toward genuine based on the style of the portrait and the fabric, but can't tell for sure from the pics.
