What do you think PCGS would grade this Buffalo Nickel?

Pictures are down further on the third message.
Thanks,

  • MS65 with those hits on the neck and buffalo, but nice details!

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

    Joe,

The obverse image is OOF, on the other hand the image of the reverse looks okee dokie! image

    64/65
  • I'd say 64 also. The coin also appears to display the "Broken Back" Non-Traditional Abraded Die. From Ron Popes book "The Abraded Die Varieties"- "These are produced by abrading or polishing of the die(s), resulting in the weakening or elimination of parts of the design, usually, but not always involving the shallowest parts of the design."
  • I'm concerned with the 12 o'clock/6 o'clock rim problems. This can be a killer, especially on a 1938-D. The strike is marginal as well. Graders have come to have high expectations for this date/mm. I am assuming it hasn't been whizzed/polished.

    MS 63/64.

  • The strike is very weak but they would probably grade it 65 anyway.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention those rim problems. I also agree that most have high expectations for this date/mm.

65 You always get low numbers when you post huge photos. --Jerry
