PSA gave this card a 7.

I've been going through my April special submission here and there. Let's just call this one "a miss".

Is that a wax stain? Also, the bottom left could have detached from the card while they were grading it. I had this happen on a definite 9 but they dropped it to a 7 due to the corner damage.

Could be a 7 due to glasses bigger.

Seriously, that should at least be an 8.

Looks like a good call on the wax. And the lower left corner is the first thing I noticed. Great looking card, though! Get rid of the wax and resubmit!

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

I think the cloud is from the scanner... look in the bottom left of the scan (off the card) and you can see another unrelated to the card.

AWESOME looking card, but I believe that lower left corner, unfortunately, knocked the hell out of the grade. HOWEVER, I'd LOVE to have an entire set in that condition (at the nr/mt price, of course).

There is a tiny, tiny amount of print to the right of his face. The "cloud" is from the scan. (Yeah, I need to clean it.)

I louped all 4 corners. Upper left is NM/MT+, upper right is the same, maybe Mint, lower right is NM/MT, and lower left is NM. The lower left is an issue but under magnification it's not that bad. It's not clipped nor is there significant stock loss.

I'll resub and see what happens. Or it goes my (very small) SGC pile. I had a similar issue a few years ago with a '59 Bill Fischer. PSA said 7. SGC said 92. SGC was right.

That's about as pure of centering as you can get on a 59.

I'd have to say the bottom left corner did you in, though I have occasionally seen 8's with similar corners.

Nice 2 in the above post by the way!

The Harlow probably got that 2 because it may have a crease that was spooned out.

    I don't think so Steve.

If someone spoons a card - that kind of tampering if caught would result in no grade - "altered stock" I believe.

Carew - what does the back look like? Paper loss?

I have a Jackie Robinson rookie that was graded a 2 because if that.

If not spooned it was somehow flattened out.

You are correct the standards do say that, however for a while it was being said that they were giving 2's for such cards.

Not sure if you can see the flattened crease on the Robby.

I can't tell Steve - but I got your point.

It's sorta like giving a pin hole an auto 1.

Ya know - coincidentally - I bought a 55T Robinson that had a crushed lower left corner that ya could see was caused by the screw down - it was sealed - I returned it to the seller who gave me a rash of crap about it - our good buddy B'way Rick!

Did you buy it as a 2 or get it graded?

I bought it as raw EX or better and had it graded myself.

I bought it from the now bankrupt Yorktown sports.
