"Genuine" reminds me of that movie with the fat guy(can't recall name) selling break parts and he said, "You can crap in a box and write genuine on it and all you have is a genuine box of crap." (Or something like that) lol

IIRC, I think that was Dan Aykroyd in "Tommy Boy". Funny movie!
You're right. Dan Aykroyd was the big banana. Chris Farley was quoting his dad, trying to sell their brake shoes, I think. He ends up selling them to Dan Aykroyd's company.

It used to be "None of the Above" was a PCGS body bag; at least now the ungradable but real coins have someplace to go. >>
Good point, but do you think it creates possible situations where it's just easier to put a coin into a genuine holder as opposed to assigning it a numerical grade, especially coins with toning? With the toning doctor's getting more advanced, I think this gives PCGS an avenue of comfort to avoid any chance of holdering and authenticating as original a potentially AT'd coin, even if it is completely NT. Error on the side of caution, and whamo! It's in a slab and hopefully everyone is at least partially satisfied.
Genuine means it is a real coin..... and not gradeable for various reasons. Could be AT or a multitude of other failings. Stop thinking it is a conspiracy.... AT coins are highly prevalent because they are the current 'rage'... so they WILL be supplied. The good ones do not get detected... and will not in the future. Questionable color - no matter real or not - will be bagged. This is not the fault of the TPG's, it is the fault of collectors who believe color on a coin is so frikken marvelous. Then, of course, enter the afficionado's who demand 'original' or NT coins and condemn slabbed AT coins... that forces increased scrutiny of all crayola coins. When a determination cannot be readily achieved, it is bagged, or genuine. Err on the side of caution. Remember, the TPG's likely understand toning a tad better than most here on the forum (notable exceptions such as TomB and Sunnywood aside). Cheers, RickO

It's been a while since I've seen that one.
