The contest:
I'm going to weigh the four prizes on a scale. (see pictures below)
You have to guess how heavy the four prizes are, in total.
It would be best if your guesses were in grams, with one digit past the decimal: Such as:
123.4 grams
or
999.9 grams
Add up your guess of the weight of all four prizes and give me a number.
It's above 100.0 grams and less than 999.9 grams.
Note that the silver eagle is in some sort of holder, the libertad is in a capsule, and the mint set contains all four lenses as well as the certificate.
The four closest guesses, after 1 week, win and will get to select their prize. Closest guess picks first. Ties resolved by the flip of a circulated face value nickel.
Feel free to modify your guesses up to the end of the contest, August 2nd at 7pm PDT. At that time, i'll take a snapshot of the answers, weigh the prizes and declare the winners.
The prizes:
A 2008 2 Onza Libertad in a capsule:
What can I say? It's not a particularly common coin. Nice and big at 48mm!
A 2009 US Mint Proof Set:
I bought two. They both looked good to me. I Dansco'ed one and am giving away the other.
A 2006 Silver ASE:
In some sort of patriotic post mint capsule.
A 1959 Proof PCGS PR-67 Jefferson Nickel:
Picture is dark because I was in a rush. Yay, a PCGS slab!

I am a YN that likes collecting state quarters and newer dollar coins
Meaning that the proof set box you see contains all coins, all four lenses and the certificate as well.
If you have a scale at home and similar items, you can get pretty close to the actual weight.
Or if you just do the math and add up the weight of the coins plus an additional factor, I bet you can come close.
For example: The weight of the ASE, as measured by me, will include the container it is in.
Asking someone to cough up the weight of just the ASE alone would be far too simple of a contest.
Even if you could duplicate the exact items I have here and weigh them, I bet there would be enough variation at 0.1 gram accuracy to make it a guess in a ballpark.
I need my macro lens back; these images suck. If I spend more time on lighting, they will all look nicer. The 2 ounce Libertad is nice.
Thanks...

<< <i>Yes, I am weighing the items exactly as you see them. Including stuff you do not see.
