Friday is metalporn day?

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,935 ✭✭✭✭✭
The other forums have a "friday is" kind of post. My brothers and sisters want to get a metalporn day off the ground?

I'll start...

seeing that gold stack makes me wonder... aside from the security issues... could one actually build a house out of gold? you would never have to paint it!

Looking at the 1st gold picture, I'm surprised, that the wooden pallets are able to support all the weight of the gold. ( Fantasy or EFT Gold?)

    That's not wood........that's Krell Steel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, you raise an exellent point. The US Mint uses pallets made out of steel to schlep ballistic bags of cents around, and those are only one metric tonne each. Think how much weight is on the bottom pallet in that stack.

The Pyramids white limestone casings were chipped away at and stolen, how long would it be before a house of gold was chipped away at and hauled off?

This photo has great appeal beyond the bullion aspect, love it, thanks for the post:

    Few more:

The golden girl of the catwalk Kate Moss has been honored with a solid gold sculpture of herself. This statue is the world's largest gold statue built since the time of ancient Egypt. Also the weight of the statue 50kgs is equivalent to the weight of the model. Siren, is the name given by the designer Marc Quinn. His latest Kate Moss creation is part of a project called Statuephilia, which will which will go on display at the British Museum from October. British artist Marc Quinn is also the creator of Alison Lapper Pregnant, which appeared on Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth. The sculpture of the English artist, who was born without arms, appeared on the plinth for 20 months.
