    Real nice!

    I'll take a wag on the grade - 64.

The dark areas on the highpoints (especially the cheek, chin and nose) have me confused between wear and toning, so I'm going to say AU58.
    When in doubt, don't.

Well-struck, attractive, face is a little ticky and I'm not sure if there's rub above the eye and high points of inner leaf left of the O in ONE or not. MS62.

I was thinking the same. Aside from that question mark I cant see any wear. I'll stick with my 62

    To me it is a 53 - 55 tops.

I think it's toning on the cheek and not wear. I'll say say 64 with a shot at 65.

I've been looking at that coin, as a possible upgrade to my AU 58, for almost a month.

Nice toning but an average strike. I know the grade - and Dimeman you're way off -

two guesses are correct so far - two guesses are too high - and the other guesses

    are too low.

    Dizzyfox, congrats.

All I know is......I wouldn't touch it as an unc of any grade.

edited to add...I just looked at pic again. That cheek can not be unc.! And it's got the circ marks and looks in the fields. If PCGS unc'd this they blew it!

AU58/MS66 (obverse/reverse) if there was such a grade. image

The obverse looks like it has high-point rub, but the reverse is gorgeous and looks like it belongs on much higher graded coin.

When in doubt charlie out, C stands for correct, or in this case MS63.

AU58... MS62-MS63 if market graded for eye appeal.

The impaired luster and ticks say MS63 to me, but I've seen similar coins graded AU58.

Looks like more sliders are getting into MS 63 holders. It's really too bad. We all know that MS 62 these days is almost always a market grade for a super-slider. Newbies aren't going to know that the term 'uncirculated' means that a coin is supposed to not have any wear. Add said definition in the official grading material and you have confusion.

I have not seen that coin in hand, but that luster break on the cheek to me would imply wear on the coin as a matter of first impression.

Yesssss...........I guess right. I've found that I have much better luck guessing the grade from a photo if there are two sets of photos posted. One set needs to be closeup, and the other needs to be more like the photos where the grade was revealed in this thread. The closeups show any problems such as hairlines, where as the the other set, shows me more what the coin looks like with the naked eye. I'm fortunate that my eyes are decent, and I tend to do most of my grading with the naked eye and if something catches my eye, then I'll break out a loop to verify.

The toning on this piece is remarkably similar to the coin in the GTG Barber Quarter thread...
