Notice the lack of hair and crown detail.Also lack of detail in the stars and left breast,however the reverse seems to be well struck.Is this common for one side to be weakly struck and well struck on the other?Care to take a stab at the Pcgs grade?Sorry about the different sized pics.

In my experience it is rare for the 1877 Trade dollar to come with a well struck obverse.

Happens on trade dollars very occasionally imho. Very common on seated dimes, but trade dollars are usualy fairly evenly struck or I've never noticed much difference before. I avoid them like the plague now raw and get very little call for holdered ones at the store. Think its a regional thing though as down south I can sell all I can get my hands on. 77's are typically weakly stuck on the Obverse. You are correct. Roughly 10-25% are what I would call well struck. There were at least two master hubs used in this year and it might be a factor (or it s simply the planchet thickness or die spacing)?

Your coin is tough to grade for me....I'll say a 62?
