I have dealt with them a few times and have always been pleased.
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector. Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
Liz has one of the better sets of eyes in the business... she can scan trays of coins and pick out the best in the lot...over and over again...a pleasure to do business with...
...and Gail is also a pleasure to deal with...
I have not had any "face time" with the other members of their team... but they do have a reputation for better quality material...
...yes... you will pay a premium... but as many have echoed here on this forum over time... quality does not come cheap...
added note... in my experience, their coins always look better in hand than in their pics...
(another note... Liz is a member of this forum... doesn't post much, to say the least LOL... but I think she does lurk here now and then... so watch what you say folks )

I,too, have dealt with them on several ocassions and have had great experiences.
I have never seen any of their staff but have dealt personally with Liz and Gail and they are very courteous and professional.
Their prices may be a little on the high side but their coins are quite nice for the grade and worth the extra $$$ I have also heard their raw coins are nice as well and usually grade at the various TPGs, however, I have only bought PCGS slabbed coins from them.

They are good folks. You do pay retail, but their images are accurate. Then again, quality coins cost real money. I have had only good experiences with them.

I deal with both Liz and Gail on a regular basis, and have returned a few purchases over the years with no questions asked. They are first class and will work to fill your want list.
I have dealt with J. J. Teaparty for over twenty years now, and I can state without the slightest hesitation that they are my favorite dealer with whom to do business. Many of the half dimes in my reference collection came from Teaparty, the majority of which were purchased raw, but there were many slabbed coins, as well. Liz has worked closely with me to find exactly what I was seeking, many times submitting several examples for approval in order to find just the right coin. Although I typically purchase coins from them, I have also sold or traded coins to them, and found them to be fair, even generous for quality coins. Their "Want List" service, maintained by Gail Watson, is the only such service that I have ever seen that actually sends you coins from your want list. Many dealers say that they provide a want list service, but Teaparty actually does so. I would give them the highest recommendation.

I have several years of dealings with both Liz and Gail and have met and spoke with them at Baltimore this year. Liz is very sharp, as is Gail, both are a pleasure to deal with. Keep this in mind, of the many coins I have purchased and traded for from JJT, all were better in hand than their pics. Good luck. Jim

You won't have any problems dealing with JJT. I've been dealing with them for at least 20 years and haven't had a problem. If you return a coin, they don't hassle you and issue a quick and courteous refund. They're good buyers too.

Teaparty is a great place to buy certified and raw collector coins. If you are into Dansco Album collections, I cannot think of no better place to contact. No one else markets raw coins as well or as fairly.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I'll add my compliments for Teaparty. Easy to deal with them, they really do service want lists, no problems with returns, and they are decent buyers too. One of my favorites for sure.
I too have had good dealings with JJ Teaparty-very professional and they will wheel and deal and even take time payments on your terms if need be. I like raw coins and they sometimes have what i want. They are members on this forum also. Bob
Just out of curiosity... where is the OP? Has he read these favorable replies? Is he going to buy a coin from JJ? Is he glad we all replied? Was his question rhetorical or did he really want to know? Are we dealing with another Longacre here? I think one hit-and-run question poser is enough for this forum ...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free
One of the best out there. Prices are high sometimes, but Ive talked them down on more then one occasion. Pictures are always pretty good, and the coins are always described right from what Ive bought.
To kill this thread by replying to it, I'll make this observation. JJTeaparty is "old" Boston establishment. As a child with my father, I remember going into their shop on Bromfield Street in Boston (just off Tremont Street). They have evolved well and kept up with all the technology of being a modern business. As others have stated, they are 'first class'. The old Boston Brahmins (Longacre & RYK types) would use them to maintain their stately collections.
I've used them to build numerous sets. When I first started purchasing from them I bought only certified as I wasn't familiar with them. After putting together a beautiful short set of MS65 Buffalo nickels I decided to try their raw coins. After purchasing almost an entire set of Buffalos in VF, another in strict AU58, and the beginnings of a set of Standing Liberty Quarters in VF and up, all raw, I have only returned two coins with absolutely no questions asked.
On the downside, I have noticed that there has been more cleaned material in the last year or so. However, if it's unoriginal, 9 times out of 10 it's mentioned in the description. When I began purchasing raw coins from them, I called Gail and explained my expectations as far as originality and strike. I was never disappointed by my purchases afterward.
As some have said, their prices can be on the high side, but I look at it like this: I'm not collecting to invest. I want quality, eye appealing coins that I can enjoy for a long time. These guys come through for the collector.
And no, I don't work for them.

I am negotiating two coins from them- One of the pictures is not the greatest so i spoke with Liz and am waiting on a call back from Gail tomorrow. One is a small widget i need and the other is part of my XF set that I am working on. Sorry, for the cryptic nature but I do not like to discuss the coins I want while negotiating. Once I get them i will post links... up to this point very professional communication. thank you for the replies-
I hate paying retail for raw coins... but c'est la vie

Try putting together a set of Barber Halves or Quarters in XF... then you'll not only find your self needing to pay retail...on some, you'll have to throw the price guides to the wind

I have purchased two coins from them in the past couple years and was pretty satisfied although, as others have mentioned, their prices are quite high compared to the usual price guides.
One thing I don't care for though is that their coin descriptions use terms like "under graded" or "looks better than (whatever grade PCGS assigned it)" way too often.
