Actually I think the cents look better than I thought they would.
But seriously do you expect great art on a small, mass produced coin? I think they are okay given the format.

no. I'm tellin ya Two... these are a different kind of spots... I know I'm a newb to collecting, but I've seen those zincolns spots before and these are from something else. As I've hypohesized before, it's like something remained after a rinse.
That sucks that your coins were not that good. I have to say that the ones I have are absoluetly perfect, under magnification I see no flaws and would expect a 70 grade if I decide to send in. Sorry to hear about yours though. Btw mine was an early set I wonder if that makes for the difference.

.......you certainly were luckier than i was, tom. got bad sets, sent them back, got more bad ones as replacements.

I just examined 17 sets. That's 68 lenses and 306 coins in all. I can count on one hand the subpar quality coins. I received 3 cracked lenses and two scuffed lenses and less than 5 coins that I would not want in my collection. The bad lenses will be cracked open and used for my annual album refresher coins.
As with any mass-produced product, you're apt to see some bad batches. Sorry that you got some bad coins Bajj. Ship 'em back and try again!

I piggybacked on a friend's order. He was sposed to order an extry set of cents only as well. I was wantin a set for my new grandmunchkin's birth year coins. Two of the cents were lousy, but the rest of the coins are decent enough. I'm gonna order 3 or 4 cent only sets on my own and hope to get enough to make two good sets out of 4 or 5 and return the others.
If there were assembled by machine I could see the crap gettin thru, but if they are hand assembled its inexcuseable IMO.

It may be more than coin-cidence that the Louis Braille commemorative was released this year, seems the Mint is taking that one to heart.

I was't referring to the art, but more to the mechanical reproduction of same. Spots, gouges, etc. are simply unacceptable.
They're rough around the edges sometimes, but right to the point.
