On this forum....is a rating of 1 really good and a rating of 10 really lousy?

nankrautnankraut Posts: 4,565 ✭✭✭
Maybe this has been answered here before--but I want to give someone here an exemplary rating on his profile. Do I give him a 1, or a 10?

It has never been determined, so some people rate 1 as the best and some rate 10 as the best. I think that makes the mean about 5ish.

The way it was explained long ago by management is the rating system was added into the program by the designer as an extra feature and its usage is really mute so don't sweat the numbers. image

Okay, someone already asked this I think, but where would I find this?

I can see Type2's in his profile, but it ain't in mine I can see... and Type 2's just went up, by the way I hope!

You can see ones rating by clicking on the glasses icon located at the top right of ones post or you can select the who's online selection from the drop down menu at the top right of the forum screen. One must also have rating enabled on their profile to receive ratings otherwise it will not be present when viewing their profile.

My guess is 10 is a good number. I've been around 5 to 6 forever.

I've made enough people angry and pleased a few others. My opinions on high (over priced) priced modern coins set some people in a tizzy. That's too bad, but it's no going to make me shut up. I'm not here to win popularity contests. I'd like edcuate and warn some people who care to listen.

Why else would a collector and retired dealer both to post messages?

I saw this rating system when I first joined the forum. I clicked on "rate" without knowing what I had just done. The default rating is "1" and I felt bad for the person I had rated. So now when I "rate" I either give them a "10" or "1", depending on their post, but mostly "10s" trying to offset others who have unintentially rated at "1".
