Felt like posting some pictures of my new Redfield 1880-S rainbow rim toned morgan.

Any grade thoughts? PL?

It's in the "from the redfield collection" holder.

........I also wanted to add that it sure is hard taking pictures of toned coins.

It seems that the best picture of the field toning is the one with the light source shining right back into the camera.

Looks MS64 with attractive rim toning, but not PL--too much cartwheel luster

I like it. Looks like it could go 64 but not PL. At that grade worth more in the redfield holder than TPG plastic. Typical redfield will grade from 62-64 so yours is typical but nicer than many. Nice traditional Redfield rim toning on yours.
  • very nice coin though I think 63 due to the cheek hits

Hmm I was guessing that it was PL because the devices are very frosty and the fields are very reflective in contrast to them.

But you are right there is a lot of cartwheel luster in the fields.

I am not familiar with what is required for a morgan to be considered PL by a TPG, but the coin reminds me of a proof image

Nice looking coin, probably a 63 or 64. I really like the redfields.
